With the stats shown from reviews, i'm having a hard time seeing how 1070 gtx would be faster than a 980 titan x. Perhaps slightly faster.

Yeah, its an extremely decent budget card. I am hoping the prices on the 980ti tanks now and I can pick up a second earlier than I thought, either new or nearly new. As mine is factory OCed (a lot) I should be able to squeeze 4k/60fps out of several games and 2k/60fps out of everything else.

The leap in performance is mental, normally next gen cards don't leap so much, these are just off the wall bonkers. Curious how the new AMD cards hold up against them, especially price vs price. Depending on what AMD charge for their new cards they could potentially shoot themselves in the foot, especially if the AMD cards are slower but more expensive.

I think AMD has already told everyone by talking about the middle ground.

AMD is supposedly going for the mainstream market this cycle, with an HBM2 card at the end of the year (which is when I'd expect the 1080 Ti to come out). They're definitely not going to be going after the 1080 just yet.

How about we just wait for specs+benchmarks instead of nonsense speculation ;)

Wow so it's 20% faster than a 980Ti, while only 20% more expensive? What a game-changer /s

In the uk - 10% more expensive for 20%+ performance.
Thats for the ripoff preorder edition as well. custom editions should be cheaper/cooler/quieter.

The more interesting card for consumers will be the 1070 - if you get 980 ti performance for 970 prices....

The OC stuff is sick as well, reference cooler max OC - only 6% behind the 1080.
Aftermarket cards might get it even closer.

Really the new value performance king - for a few weeks at least.

No idea how AMD are going to compete with either the 1070 or the 1080, on the one hand the 1070 is insane for value and very powerful for that value too... on the other hand the 1080 is incredibly powerful at a reasonable price. AMD will likely have to make a loss on their cards, relying on die hard AMD fans to buy them isn't a great business model.

Well they've said this part was going to be mainstream and expanding the market, if it's 10% less powerful than the 1070 but 30% cheaper it'd still be a fantastic card.

Also price wise - the $699 founders edition worked out at £619 in the uk, so the $379 MSRP should work out around £300. ( hopefully ). $450 msrp for the reference 1070.

Aye, I know one thing, once the AMD cards come out, between AMD and NVIDIA it's a great time for people to make the leap from console gaming to PC or even just upgrade.

Very nice, reference cards were hitting 83, stock strix maxxed at 63 in firestrike extreme.

The Strix coolers are amazing. Can't hear mine even at full load.

Anyone got a round-up of the 1080s price/perf/noise?

Well ofc it will offer limited OC, its already factory OC'ed. That's kind of the point of the Strix range.

Yup, also these cards are getting this level of performance at 215w full load, compared to the 980ti at 350w or the fury x at 375 w.
It's incredible at every level.

Reference is what.. 1800mhz? Strix is at 2025mhz.

Unless they wanna put 2x8pin, improve the power management on the board and chuck a waterblock on, what the fuck are they expecting?

I think the clue is in the move from 28nm to 16nm.

The 1080's will go for a lot of money here in Sweden apparently. 7000 kronor +
