I especially loved the imagery of "Turbulent times bring only waves and curants...". It conjured up images of rough seas of berries and raisins, upon which floated a life boat, the sole occupant being a ginger haired boy doing his best to keep the tears from flooding out as he grips the edge of the boat in fear. Beautiful.

I am curious though why we are being singled out as the problem area. We have approx. the same amount of posts in here as the General section (give or take 4,000), half the amount of posts as the Excal RvR section, 2k less than the General DAoC section etc. etc.

Exactly what has our little 'community' of social malcontents done that would warrant oblivion? It seems pretty obvious to me that the heavier the modding the more we are likely to shove back. Half the threads that have been created in the last week have been aimed at Adari and his clichés.

Just because this is eOT doesnt mean it should have special rules, or should let people get away with whatever they want to do. It seems pretty obvious to me that the heavier the modding the more we are likely to shove back.

That is an incredibly stupid thing to do, and probably what let this whole 'situation' get this far. If you want to be a rebel, do it elsewhere.

also just to add to clear up any confusion... theres a few points that NEED to be addressed which saldy havnt been reagarding eOT's future..

1. CoC : To be blunt isnt strong enough to deal with OT forums, its not even a shade of the old BW CoC and i feel it needs to be addressed by those that can and ammended to deal with an OT forum.. otherwise you get what we have in eOT atm... shit slinging and no-one dealing with it.

2. MODS : Again in my opinion (OT ones only) those that deal with the OT Forum really havnt been hard line enough with posts that are blatantly not acceptasble by ANYONES standards..i recall when Aussie insulted me very harshly he was instantly banned...yet ive seen FAR FAR worse posts in eOT than the one that was aimed at me and yet no-one even got a warning or suspension. This just breeds a culture of lets see who can post the worst thing and not get banned culture, and leads to the downward sprial of OT as it is now.

3. Ive seen a few posters defending eOT saying well if you dont like it dont read it...or you dont have to reply do you? tbh this doesnt hold water not with me or anyone else... oh im sory i forgot to brush up on my Forum Foresight skills so i can see whats inside a topic before i click it.. this is a job for the mods, they need to clear up posts as soon as is humanly possible.. fair enough..if you dont have enough mods get some more to deal with it, its not like your paid for your work..so i can understand you have irl things to deal with... but tbh i shouldnt have to read any post that is deemed insulting or offensive, surely by its very nature any such post SHOULD be locked and deleted from ANY forum, regardless of it being on Off Topic, anything of that nature has no place ANYWHERE in a public forum... its not big and its not clever to post such things...but youve let them think it is and now they know they can get away with it they will...

I think I've refrained from posting in this thread for long enough (and am very proud of myself, thank you very much!). I wanted to see how others would react and I must say I'm disappointed, but I won't dwell on that. Anyways, my views, here we go:

From the way I see it, the more the mods come down on us (and I use "us" as a loose collective term, not pointing any fingers), then the more we (loose, collective term, see previous) are likely to retaliate. Take one of the many Loxleyhood bannings for example. <wajn> Loxleyhood, don't bait me, /cry </wajn> = Loxley posts a picture of some bait = ban.

I mean, seriously now, this is just a forum. Deebs said himself he was glad to get away from the strict CoC and rules that Barryworld enforced, so just let us get on with it. We post a bit of crap, ignore it, it will go away believe me.

The worst thing you can do is listen to Adari. Someone posted as a joke a that there should be an age limit on mods, but I really think there should. Remember the uproar when Tilda became mod. Half of us still thought he was a girl then too! Then it turned out to be Peter the 14 year old, well, nuff said. Anyways, I digress. My point is that, no disrespect, but a kid, who plays computer games, is not mature enough to handle decisions that people like Deebs and Ted have to make.

I paid my tenner immediately, for the good of the forums, and because I was grateful to the guys for offering us a replacement when Barrysworld went. And I still am. I must say, I've ventured into General and other forums more since the move across, made a few new friends, and got advice about various things from people who know what they are talking about in certain areas.

Specifically on the subject of this forum, Excalibur Off Topic, even though 99% of us don't even play DAoC any more, it's like a home to us. Somewhere to go when we want to have a rant, a moan, tell a crap joke, even flame each other jsut to let off some steam. "Fuck off Repent", "K9 is a twat", etc, it's entertainment, and without it, the place will be a lot sadder.

Interesting the same things are being mentioned by people who post in eOT.

I'm reading alot about the focus on flaming Adari and it's not something that would last for any legnth of time I can assure you. It's FOM stuff. Sharma went through it Tilda went through it. It'll pass! There's hardly any mod baiting going on compared to earlier.
I think Asha's idea about deleting threads a couple weeks later to have more room is a brilliant idea if space is a concern. If it's just the content of eOT and that's all it is, then ammend the CoC *cough* and the rules apply to all.
Improve you modding-
Some peeps bet banned for the 'right' reasons and others continue to be the same twats they've always been and don't even get a slap on the wrist. It's an inside job I tell you!
The comments about how some kids post more maturely than the adults.... seriously that point is meaningless in a forum. People can be whoever they want to be on the internet. Maybe people want to be silly here because in the real world maybe their life is all about seriousness.
I disagree with the point that I think this forum is mine. I am in total acceptance that Ted & Deebs run this site and it's no easy feat. My argument is not to 'have' or 'continue' ownership of FH or eOT it's to let eOT be as it is, warts an all, and just mod it when it goes against the CoC.
