1080p gaming.. 2070 Super or 2080+ will last ages yet for 1080p/1440p.
1080p gaming.
What a "monster". :/
But yep, on the cost effectiveness front.
Frankly, because consoles exist not enough games exist to make it worth upgrading IMO. High frame rates at 4k? My 1080ti achieves it well enough and as we don't have many games where it's critical you run at 100fps+ (a la quake 3) any more I struggle to give more than a handful of fucks.
I think the AMD 6000 series is meant to match or come close to 3080's, the only downside is AMD drivers are generally pretty shit in comparison to NVIDIA + the same problem will arise with scalpers over it.
best bet imo is try to buy a 2070 super or 2080 from people selling them to upgrade and just hang on for a bit. 2070 Super or 2080+ will last ages yet for 1080p/1440p.
This feels like the generation to go for now for me.Never been a better time to buy a PC.
Ryzen 5900 and RTX 3080 combo with plenty of PCIE Gen 4 NVME storage and you have a monster.
Never found hdr all that good. Have it on my tv and with the ps4 didnt seem worthit tbh.Don't forget you need to upgrade to a 4k/1440p high refresh HDR monitor too!
2 months waiting list for the new cards - husband has brought his monster PC and is sulking as he wants it latest November...
It's taken four attempts, but AMD has finally cracked it: Ryzen is now effectively as strong as Intel when it comes to gaming performance. While some games remain friendlier to Intel processors, the differences are small enough that we're happy to recommend Ryzen 5000 processors as the default choice for most people.
Ooooer

oh don't be silly. That's intel officially dead unless they make sweeping changes because AMD will just keep going up and up.
Ah. Hokuto No Ken meme.
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Review
Ryzen 9 5950X is AMD's flagship 16-core, 32-thread monster. It offers outstanding application performance, your productivity tasks will complete faster than before. Thanks to the Zen 3 IPC advantage, it also excels in gaming, even winning against Intel's Core i9-10900K.www.techpowerup.com
