Oh i haven't seen Juno, or snakes on a plane, but i just hate it via the hype around it.

That's what put me off half life 2 for many many years.

you do not seem to hate WoW.

No, but that's 'cause i managed to avoid the overhype and i "saw" it before it happened. It's very case sensitive, the hype just is a certain way with some things.

lol. it didnt exactly sneak onto the market now did it.

No, ofcourse not, but i avoided the hype. Be it a fluke, random, by luck, whatever, but avoided it none the less. And as such, it didn't get "ruined".

Like i like half life 2, it's great fun, but it takes some time to get over the "drool".

Don't know why you're so adamant in "proving me wrong" about something.

How can hype ruin something?

iI mean if you had not lived under a rock and noticed the wow hype, you would not have liked it?

Not hype, overhype.

It's hard to explain.

If i hear "this game is good, this movie is good" then i think "hmm, it must be good, let's see".

If i hear "Oh my god this is the greatest ever with this and that and you MUST see/play it and and and", it gets boring really quick. And from that, it moves to annoying.

This is all VERY case sensitive, as in, how much you're pummeled with the hype. And also, a bit about how interested you're into the product to start with.

The interest effects only after you've been "over" pummeled with hype, and then the overhype+not interested becomes the annoying factor.

that sounds kind of silly o_O
surely you would want to watch it to make up your own mind THEN decide whether it is any good

Yes. Ofcourse. Try it before judging, but i don't want to go into the theatre to watch something when i'm tired of the overhype.

You know?

I want to go watch something with a positive/neutral expectations.

If it's overhyped, you know it can't be THAT good and as such, you'll be disappointed.

It's just a matter of, "i will probably like Juno, but will have to wait a while to forget why i waited to watch it"

Worst: Anything with Nicholas Cage in it, the Austin Powers movies, The Phantom Menace, etc

Best: The three "original" Star Wars movies, Gladiator, Platoon, Starship Troopers, that movie with Nicole Kidman where she "thinks" she sees ghosts in a large mansion that she lives in.. don't know the name of it but the ending was powerful, Matrix (can't believe nobody mentioned it!), Aliens, The Usual Suspects, and finally because it surprised me to hell by actually being pretty entertaining and well made: Attila the Hun!

P.S. Oh and Top Gun was pretty ace in its time too. :) I specifically remember my dad commenting "there goose Goose" when Tom Cruise throws Goose's dog tag into the ocean. I LOLed in what should have been a emotional moment in the film. :)

Nicholas Cage has done alot of bad movies I agree, but theres a few ones that are way above average, especially Lord of War - which is probably his best movie to date.

ROFL! May I ask what kind of movie this was, and what you were doing watching it? And more importantly - why was it bad? :D

Maybe it left him feeling "empty"?

Went in with a "full load" of hopes, came up with just emptiness?

Maybe it was a bit "stretched"?

Maybe it was just slightly "stif"?

Maybe he just didn't warm "up" to it?

Maybe he felt like all it left him with was the "bag" he came in with?

Ok i'll stop...

Maybe it was alright, but he wouldn't "come" again for it?

Watched it again with the English subtitles of course last academic year with brazilian and portugese flatmates. They couldn't believe just how different the subtitles were to what was actually being said, heh. Having some of the lines translated, I kinda saw where they were coming from but even with crappy subtitles it's still an awesome film, I completely agree.
