heh, i'm actually a fan of johnny depp. having worked in a cinema for 2 years though, i can only say that you do not know the pain of working on the opening weekend of pirates. including the idiots who dress up as pirates to sit in the dark and watch the film. this has slightly tarred any enjoyment i may have gotten out of the film. ;)

i actually did that with my mates...the whole point being to go in with loads of alcohol, dressed as a pirate...and come out drunk and go on some maaad night out :d guess most would, how pointless otherwise

Talking about pirates of the carribean, 'pirates' has to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Couldn't stop laughing at the atrocious(sp?) acting and ended up actually skipping the porn to see what would happen next. And then I turned the timer back...so a double whammy and great movie all round :D

As for worst, I don't even want to bring myself to think about it. I do however completely agree with whoever said 'dirty dancing'. I honestly can't see some womens attraction to it. Christ the whole thing is just plain awful; I was about to pick on one area when a flood of other problems came to my mind. Gah, now I've got that bloody thing in my head... <sigh>

Best Films:

Back to The Future trilogy: Can just watch this one over and over.
Life Of Brian: Monty Python's finest moment.
Beverly Hills Cop: Eddie Murphy easily at his best.

Worst Films

The Avengers: Oh... My.... GOD! Normally I can find some thing to redeem a film. Can't even come close with this one.
Highlander 2 - The Quickening: Jeez. Took everything that made the first one good and said, huh? What first movie?
Austin Powers in Goldmember: I barely even raised a smile let alone a laugh.

No idea what to nominate as the worst movie, I rarely remember those. Tomb Raider I guess...

One of the best movies I've seen, that has not been mentioned yet, is The Lion King.

Fantastic film. I do think if this thread were titled 'worst sequel' the second starship troopers would top it for me though. Absolutely awful.

Looking at the list of the worst movies I've ever seen, it's awfully short, mainly because I watch A LOT of movies and anything that can make me pass time faster than sitting around twiddling my thumbs is a good thing. The only 2 movies however I have actually STOPPED watching are; Alexander(just an plain awful movie, the hight was basically the intro - which made it sound like an awesome movie but it turned out to be just horrible).

The other movie I turned off I can't even remember the name of anymore, apparently it was some post-apocalyptic city with some sort of alien super police or whatever, and this chinese hardcore dude was running around being the last man on earth. I actually got sick from watching this movie(a lot of really wierd motion coupled with bad special effects light). Stopped watching it 15minutes into it or whatever, really, really bad.

My good movie list is quite long but the movies I would consider 'best' would most likely be; The Shawshank Redemption, American History X, Equilibrium, Gladiator and one of my real personal favourites(atleast the first time watching it, when the plot was totally unforseeable) Lucky Number Slevin.

edit: Just went through my movie-excel list and found a few more movies I love; The Departed, Kingdom of Heaven, The Last of the Mohicans(underrated, but awesome movie), The Bourne Trilogy(especially 1 & 3), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly(one of the few western movies along with 3:10 to Yuma I actually liked), Snatch, Lock Stock & Two smoking barrels, The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford, The Illusionist and The Prestige.

worst - bourne supremecy, turned it off but maybe thats because i havn't seen the first, dunno. Alexander also was a pile of shit

I didn't like Juno that much. Was just annoying :(

I hate Juno. With a passion.

But that's only 'cause every f'cking organism on the planet is talking about it and 90% of those are praising it as the next best thing since "hide the sausage in jubblieland part 2"

I like Juno as i think its funny and she does seem like a really good actress as the charachter here is so different to Hard Candy the last film i saw her in.
