Your Views on people?

Lately I have been reading alot of threads in the off-topic section of this Forum, and alot of things come to mind about my own or your views on people on the Forum or in the world in general.

I have certain views on many people on this forum (names shall not be mentioned due to it being considered as 'insulting'), for example I dont really understand why some people let their real life problems be told on an internet forum when they could probably sort it out themself. What are your views on people who do such things as that? An example would be 'My Girlfriend cant stay round' - What are your views on people who make such threads on the forum.

So basically this thread means 'What dont you like people doing on the forum' It can be anything from their political views or from them acting childish. Anything but please keep names out due to it being considered as 'insulting' or a personal atack from the FH CoC.

Well, I do understand why people ask questions about their Real Life problems. They seek advice from people who have already had that problem. I do not see what is wrong with asking other ppl opinion. Anyway it is much easier to ask for opinion/advice/solutions on a forum where you can be unknown then asking RL friends. Altho it might be better to ask RL friends. So Im fine with those topics aslong as the person who makes it doesnt mind some funny responses or some flames.

For me OT should be everything besides daoc. Sports, Funny links/vids/pictures, Jokes, RL Problems, just spam topics and all

People can post what they like as far as I am concerned, I simply ignore the type of posts you describe. Why anyone would want to come here for advice on some of the topics they do is beyond me, but each to their own.

It´s pretty simple in my books:
People may write about whatever they want. If I think it´s interesting, I`ll read it. If I think it´s not interesting, I don´t read it. If I think I´ve got something to contribute, I`ll reply.
I think it´s generally a bad idea to set up rules or guildelines for an internet forum. Yes, occasionally there are threads that I consider not suitable, unneccessary, rude or disgusting. But then, there are far more important things to get upset about. Selective reading is all you need really.

I have no problems with reading and commenting on RL problems. Infact, those are the most interesting topics around. And I also don't have problems with private jokes in between (and yes, Vlad does that alot )

Off-topic is off-topic, everything out of category ends up here. (we're all out of category ). I do dislike the people who just come here to bitchslap other people, those who bring no 'contribution' besides the casual flamebait.

I guess people can tell all there problems here on the forum... Like "my girlfriend loves my father what should i do?" and the like, I personally wouldnt share that much... I think the off topic forums is better used for random movie clips from youtube and weird topics to discuss.

The only "real" problem with sharing your life story here or political views etc. is that if you disagree with somebody they drag your old posts up in effort to score cheap points. If you don't get offended then I guess post whatever you like/want.

My dream forum with be that people could give constructive advice like (sorry for naming here) Ezteq for example gives. If all acted like that this would be more fun to post here for more people. So less childishness and more constructive posts if I get to decide. Do I get to decide?!

ye personal probs are fine tbh we all need to have somewhere to go when we get them imo. what i really really hate is when someone makes a point, someone else disagrees with it, the origional person disagrees with them then the whole thing degenerates in to a big bitchy fight and someone inevitably gets called a fascist or a nazi because they disagree with the other person.

I also really dont like abusive "nasty" posts about peoples appearances or race whatever, i just think nobodys perfect (with the possible exception on hugh jackman and anelina jolie) and we should all be a bit more forgiving when it comes to seriously judging someone by their looks.

Hopefully from that he would learn that they make the decisions based on what they think is good and proper, rather than to piss you off

i dont mind personal posts but like Ez says i fookin hate when someone asks your opinion then when you give it someone else LOLZORS and calls you names cause they disagree. I can think of 2 intstances that has happened and its annoying. No opinion is wrong, unless its really daft and doesnt warrent a reply (bugz) (just kidding)

The thing that annoys me on this forum is alot of the younger and more ignorant people posting their stupid and 1 sided views on big political events, such as Iraq etc. It smells of such bullshit and makes no sense, or if it does they dont back up their views.

I also find people who lack brains generally annoying, so people who are stupid and try to partake in reasombly intelligent conversations annoy me.

Not tryin to get into a flame war olly, but ive known you since day one and what you have just wrote sums you up exactly when you first started playing DAoC. But now you have matured and are nothing like what you used to be. People just have to take into account that a lot of people who use this forum are of the younger generation and dont have the experience to put across their point articulatly

I used Bugz as an example because, he had a genuine question. He was given advice. No point in having a topic without given names because that way you would be discussing 90% of the posts in Off Topic, which would not let you choose which threads were actually the ones you disliked

one of the best things about these forums for me is that because you cant see whos talking you generally cant judge them unless they choose to disclose their age etc and i find it doesnt matter how old you are you can make perfect sense or make a total tit out of your self, just because your older doesnt make you wiser... look at me fgs im older lol.

so when people disagree with some of the younger members of the boards and use the "your 12 wtf do you know" argument, that actually does really annoy me, they may not be right and i might not agree with them but imo everyone should be encouraged to enter in to a discussion because its how you learn, and your opinion at the start might be very different from how you feel at the end.

If you're going to attempt to be a 'good righteous' so and so - then putting the name of the thread on your first post, whilst that thread is like on the front page or second page is not at all intelligent...

That said, if people didn't come here with real life comments - what would be left? Silly annoying 'I post a link threads' and silly fucktards (not mentioning anyone) insulting whoever quotes them...

Just because you're life is so straight forward that you see the light every time it shines, doesn't mean that all of us live that easy life. The amount of serious threads on this forum alone is evidence that the forum can be a great place to learn and get experiance from other people.

That said, what I hate is those that purposedly add nothing into most of the conversations but spam and post off-topic comments. For example, a nice conversation is flowing along and someone will drop a silly comment or two or more bum-buddies will lay down a little private joke in the middle of it all. We don't need those people here - they haven't aided us in any way (sad thing is - I can think of a select few who don't aid us in any way from a few seconds thought).

If anything we NEED more serious discussions, and subsiquently, one's that don't aim for a specific age range or certain groups of people. This thread, my 'what's your fav. season thread,' 'Do you like emo thread' are all successful because they allow everyone a chance.

Lastly, I also feel the moderation for this forum needs to be topped up. Some people are sprouting a lot of offensive stuff directly at certain people and for some reason they get away with it (probably because of this 'his an old forummite' culture). Who gives a shit when you joined this forum? The culture of picking on other's has to stop - whether it's age/join date/chav/emo etc. Hopefully those that do this kind of thing will kindly fuck off to a child's forum - where they are in the maturity-stage of other's in terms of conversing.
