Your spec in weapon affects your blockrate?

Does Shield Weapskill exist, you can not find it anywhere.

Always wanted to know if 42+xx shield/39+xx blade spec would slam just as oftenor more than 50+shield/28+xx blade spec as the shown WS would get lower with 50/28 spec

It's not displayed, but it would be calculated the same way as your displayed weaponskill, but using Dex as main stat, instead of Str (for blades).

Comparing 42/39 vs 50/28...

The 42/39 spec will have a (marginally) better chance at landing slam than 50/28.

The 50/28 spec will do (marginally) more damage with slam (when it lands) than 50/28 as damage is based on shield-spec, not weapon (though I am not sure - not tested - if base damage, style bonus, or both is on shield-spec).

The 42/39 spec will do more 1h damage than the 50/28 spec.

The 50/28 spec will block more than the 42/39 spec.

Don't have an easy way to test this as it can't be done in a duel, but I have no reason to believe your guard-rate is calculated differently to your block-rate.

I have absolutely no concrete evidence but it has always 'felt' (through over 18 months of play) that my Paladin blocks more for others with guard than she does for herself. I have also used Scout for guarding and person she was guarding claims she blocked more than one target per round (with small shield).

Shame there is no easy way to run tests (although you could run tests of guard against mobs just to see if block rate is higher than self block).

That's because the various levels of guard 1/2/3 have a base chance to block for the person you are guarding of 5%/10%/15%. Whereas your base chance to block for yourself is only 5%.

Or something like that, have never been good at remembering numbers. :p

only odd thing bout guard is it can block an unlimited number of attackers... noticed this block botting for an ice wizz at tower keeper, on a slow spawn we'd gather up all the mobs in the area and pbaoe 4tehwin :D

record must have been bout 30-35 mobs all blocked long enuff for ice wizz to pwn em
this might be PvE only tho
