Also, I use my SB Live player 5.1 for making music (admittedly through a pretty beefy Seperates amp & good speakers {plus surround speakers and sub for games}) using the new Reason music making software. The sound is nearly as clear as a proper separates CD player and deffo better than the sound from our big MIDI stack system. No finished tunes yet tho., I'm at the bottom of a VERY steep music learning curve {wish I'd paid attention in music at school now} - Reason is excellent though - makes REALLY funky sounds with just a few clicks...

So, save your mobo, grafics and processor cash (you gotta double any PC spec to even notice the difference in performance IMHO) and buy Reason instead

Hmm a teacher told me that I was tone deaf too, but I can work the ole Technics OK (ish) and I still enjoy messing about with tunes on my PC. If I could pipe it out you would hear some great sounds from my PC now .
