Just pricing up a new PC atm. Thinking of (maybe):-

Mobo: Epox EP-8KHA+ (KT266A)
CPU: Athlon XP 1800+
Case: GlobalWin802 + 300W PSU (love those cases)
Memory: 2 x Crucial 256meg PC2100
HD: IBM 60GXP 60gig
Sound: No idea
Gfx: Undecided

How's that sound ?

(PS. Bodhi + Perp need not reply about the CPU, Memory + Mobo :))

Sounds nice - not seen any reviews of that mobo, but the chip-set comes recommended to me.

Same here.

What graphics cards are you thinking of, Wijarama? And what sort of price is that coming to?

Thinking of GeForce 3 Ti 200 or 500 or Radeon 8500. Depends on reading a few more reviews and driver tests.

Sound cards I know nothing about. My current PCs both have SB16s :)

The mobo, cpu, case, psu, memory and a 250 quid gfx card would come to about 680 quid.

Add on an extra 200 and odd for HD, FD, CD-ROM, Mouse, KB, NIC and maybe a heavy duty cooler.

Then there's sound card and monitor (but I have 2 monitors atm so I can survive without a new one for a while.)

Both good gfx choices - I'd hand on and see what drivers ATi can get together before I commit to either.

Same here. I'm using an ESS AudioDrive atm (old ISA card). I've always had my sound cards connected through my stereo and I really don't see how a fancy new card could make anything sound better.

The Epox motherboard is extremely nice, sound choice.
