I'll wait and see if they fuck it up first. Don't like pre-ordering anything.

Same here, only an idiot pre-orders anything these days. I promised myself last year I'd never do it again.

So naturally when I got a 27% discount voucher from GMG my rational brain didn't get involved as I submitted my credit card details....

Out this Friday. £34.99 on Steam, bought and pre-loaded.
Bought the Digital Delux from Green Man Gaming... for £35.. :) 27% off voucher. They still have vouchers on their page. Bought my last "new release" games from there, never problem with Steam.

Yeah, I really need to be less lazy when it comes to Steam purchases.

Read a couple of reviews and its looking very positive. I have already informed the wife she is eating beans on toast all weekend because I will be too busy to cook.

Yeah, me too, but god damn it's unforgiving. Had to reload a few times as my entire team got wiped out by a combination of bad luck and poor positioning.

Don't tell me that. I'm doing an Ironman as my first run-through :)

you're mad :)

On my second playthrough now, abandoned the first. Playing the map is pretty important too, it always feels like there is a ticking clock.

You're not wrong! I was doing great, not lost a single unit, everything ticking along nicely. Then an "Easy" escort mission .. Lost all 5 of my best squad members in a single turn.

Sectoid mind controls my sniper who grenades the VIP causing two units to panic. One runs across the firing line of two enemy Overwatch - dead. Second guy runs upto blade unit, fires & misses point blank, gets stunned in return. Second sectoid decides to join the action ...

Only managed a couple of hours so far, 4 flawless missions so far so I'm expecting a wipe any time. :)

Yep, I was the same, 6 flawless missions, then got my first retaliation mission, where I was stomped into the ground and disabused of the notion that I knew what I was doing. Could not figure out a way to beat the Advent forces and save six civilians. In the end, I sacrificed a sniper. I'm now bringing a rookie to every easy mission, in case there is blood sacrifice to be made. Blood for the blood god!

Just done that one and somehow managed it with 7 civilians left. 2 snipers ftw :) Put one one up high with two squadies running point

Really like the way overwatch works now, rather than everyone firing at the same target and missing they take turns, makes it actually useful.

Yep makes for some good ambush setups.

The game runs like poop even on high end rigs, and lots of crashing/memory leaks as well. I'd say wait.

I've not seen a single crash or any abnormal memory leaks so far and I've certainly been putting in the hours.

I do agree the initial auto-detected graphic settings are too aggressive. I've installed it on two different machines and the game did run like shit on first load on both. However turn off the Depth-of-Field and AO, lower the shadow settings and maybe some others and then it runs silky-smooth while still looking good. If you've got an NVidia card their GeForce Experience tool, the presets it has for XCom 2 seem to fix everything.

As for those "save the civilian" missions the best tip I have is forget about saving the civilians. Running out of cover to save one often just ends up hurting you due to bad positioning. Any civilians left on the map at the end are automatically counted as saved. So instead just concentrate on killing the aliens as far as possible. If they are firing on you that means they aren't killing the humans. Also ...

Killing all the normal aliens forces any Faceless left on the map to appear without you having to run up to that person and then finding yourself in close quarters to those bastards :)

Works OK on mine.

User error.

So there's a deal for x-com2 + a steam controller. I'm tempted. Did anyone try this?

I think the scaling on some of the "protect the device" missions needs some tweaking. Reaching the location before 3 mech units and a swarm of others destroy it in 3 or 4 turns is not "hard" or "very difficult", that's impossible!

I may need to restart this play through as I'm right on the edge of Avatar points. I only managed to recover last time with 12hours on the clock :)

Well I've run into the corrupted save game bug, naturally on the very last mission so it's damn near (iron man) impossible to complete. Can't load any newly created saves without it crashing. Seems to be a common bug if the number of forum posts about it is any indication.
