Ok, took me until midnight and a lot of checking connections with my multimeter, but the chip is now working. I think.

I turned it on and the Cromwell flash thing appeared. I burnt a CD with the EvoX Bios and flashed the chip. Everything seemed to go fine, but on reboot it just boots up like the old Xbox thingy.

I was thinking that I needed to install a new dashboard so it would look different, but the damn thing didn't want to read the CD (Same CD I used for bios)

Then I had a thought this morning that you had to pad the bios Cd with a file of 100 MB+. I probably need to do the same with the EvolutionX CD so it can read it.

If not, it's parrallel cable time, and I'll try the Executor II Bios.

What BIOS/Dashboard is everyone else running?

I'm building my arcade Supergun into the drawer on my entertainment unit.

Here's the instructions I've been following

http://www.chads.arcade.btinternet.co.uk/Supergun/supergunIndex.htm

Very detailed and you can hook it to a Tv with a SCART lead.

heh very nice mate - all you need to do for that fairground experience is round up 20 pikeys armed with flicknifes and the immortal line "Give me 10p or I'll cut ye".

Be warned: lots of hefty mame games don't run on xbox mame due to lack of ram. So don't get your hopes up too much for all those fairly recentish games.

I've been finding that out the hard way. There's a neo-geo emulator for the box called kwakx or something, that I spotted last night. May give that a go as nearly all my favorite arcade games are Neo Geo ones. It uses some black magic to get around the lack of memory.

Oh, ordered a 120 GB HDD last night as well. Finally I'll be able to free up some space on my PC.

One strange thing I have at the moment though is that when transfering from Xbox to PC I get just over 1000 k/sec, when transfering from PC to Xbox I only get about 150 k/sec. Network card?

Depends if you're using the standard xbox hd. With my standard hd I only got about 500k/s to the F: partition. Whacked a 40 gig ibm in and now I get 4.5meg a second :/

Btw KOTOR is SO good ;-D

I've only got the standard hard drive in there and I get anything from 1-10 mb/s.

And yes, kotor rocks much, I'm just about finished my first run through :D

I put a 120 GB drive in yesterday and switched from Absolute FTP to FlashFXP and now I'm getting the same speed both ways, 1 MB/sec. And yes, KotoR does indeed rock. I've just started and have just reached the upper levels of Taris.

The Great Escape is quite funny as well.
