If you click it from here, let it load to the Toms Hardware logo and then put a "?" at the end of the URL.

So far, no one has backed up anything they've said with anything more than speculation. "People will use 3.0"? Some are. The rest? Maybe. "People wont use 3.0"? Some are. The rest? Maybe.

No one has said "here's a huge list of games and games developers". No one has said "Here's how long it took for the take up of 2.0". Someone says "You can do it with 2.x". Do what? You're having an argument here containing technical terminology that most of the TN regs wont understand. The least you could do is provide thorough justification and explaination for people reading, this thread was supposed to be helping people choose a graphics card once.

Each card will have it's own strenghts and the buyer will need to choose according to his own needs. I'd suggest the x800 cards for general use and gaming, but the new nVidia cards for 3D modelling/animations. If working with images/colours, the monitor is just as important.

I don't see PS3.0 being a big issue, by the time most developers are supporting it, the next gen of cards will be coming out.

Something to consider: Epic is targetting Unreal3 (probably the largest user of new shader techniques) at the generation of cards after the x800 and 6800. So don't bank on them being particularly furture proof. ;)

Already decided am going for the X800XT... the 6800U is a nice card but with its power requirements and the extra cost its just to much difference for probably worse performance.

Just now got to wait for someone to get the X800XT in :) some dealers had them in past few days but was literally a few per store :/

The post was removed for obvious and correct reasons, I don't think (imo) there was any heavy handed moderating.

Go go heavy handed moderating.

To be fair, if people want to drag threads off topic with personal attacks, then they need to expect a little moderation.

This isnt the general forum, we dont accept that kind of behaviour.

Indeed, most jabs or attacks I'll remove - just to keep the topics on track... but repeat offenders will get the ban-stick waved in their direction just like any of the other forums here @ FH.

Well yeah, bodhi did go a bit far, but it's hardly just personal attacks that get moderated. Seems to me anyone who disagrees with a moderator just gets moderated...

Well, you've been asked more than once if you've such concerns to take them up via PM, that's what Wilier and I are here for, and if you don't then I'm afraid you've little right to complain about it.

It's sad, certain people can't appear to respect the simplest of rules, so we've ended up with yet another locked thread. Ho-hum.
