Such a pity to see some1 selling this for an extortionate price when ppl are genuinely struggling to get the arti for their own use.

We have a general rule if someone from the guild tries to sell an artifact they rolled for they get kicked.

p.s and when they try sell they always "i suposse" say . "well it doesnt fit in my sc template any more" ... which is when peeps get angry cos they tried sell it for cash before asking in /gu if anybody needs :(

tbh if you have that sort of person in your guild, you need to rethink your member base :p

How can you know he rolled for it tho? 2 players can do SoM logging 2 accs each so maybe he just farmed it with someone that planned to sell it aswell ;o

That "need before greed" thing dosent hold up..
What about if what he need is gold to buy something he really needs?
Imo that would be the same..

What's a pity? Someone who is "genuinely struggling to get the artifact" can go ahead and purchase the item here, thus saving him lots of time and effort. So either he can spend his time trying to get it himself, or can spend it making cash to buy it from someone who has a spare.

And extortionate? Well, 15p is hardly a lot of cash. Easily farmed in a day.... Or easily made in an hour or two if you farm the right scrolls.

Nice rule, but I don't see how it is neccessarily relevant here. Almost all artifacts can be done solo/duo with bot (including this one). If he's done it himself, not rolled against any friends/guildies who wanted it, what's the problem?

(not saying that's what I do myself, just that I don't see a problem).

No offense Pin but the only reason people are genuinely struggling to get the artifact is because people kill the mob to make a profit from people instead of actually needing the artifact themselves they'd rather force people to pay them for it. This is the way the economy works but need before greed should apply e.g. if you need the artifact do the encounter, if you don't need the artifact don't do the encounter. The current spate of people selling massively needed artifacts (SoM, maddening scalars) is ridiculous and people are becoming extortionately greedy.

I bought my Phoebus Harp Necklace, my Tartaro's Gift, and my Band of Stars. In all cases, I was happy that someone had farmed these for me so that I did not have to, and I was perfectly willing to pay the prices they charged for them (I believe around 8 plat for them all).

One artifact drops, one character gets an artifact. Whether that artifact is activated by the person who it dropped to or not makes little difference as someone who needs the artifact gets the artifact.

Or put it another way... If there are 1000 people waiting at a spawn to get something you want, your chance is just as low as if there is 1 person waiting to get 1000 and randomly distributing them (selling).

And well... if there's 1000 people wanting something, it's far more efficient to spend your time farming cash/other items in order to be the highest bidder.

And besides, nobody is forced to buy something. You have the choice - quick and expensive, or patient and cheap.

bom +bos is soloable and not a very sought after arti. and after asking in /gu if anybody needed (and no rpely) i ofc tried sell ..... nowt wrong with that ...

u cant compare bos+bomn to som which ALWAYS has people camping there. an some even camp it for 12+hrs without going afk in hope it pops.

If you cannot be there to kill it for credit, how are you going to kill it to get the artifact?

Getting credit is much simpler - just find any random people doing an encounter and ask them if you can join a BG, or do the encounter with a few people who want it, lose the roll, get credit, buy the artifact.

Ok
I didn't start this post for getting this attention
But now many peeps think they need to say their opinion i'll tell the story.
I camped the shades of mist spot because I wanted the artifact.
I wanted it in my 100% template
but, I only got 4P, so after Shades of mist i still had to farm around 16P. I'm only allowed to play in weekends and holidays (and ofc all other times my parents aren't at home). So, i asked guldies help. They helped me get it, and i didn't roll to anyone.
I tried to buy the scroll3 for 3 weeks, can't farm it cause of lack of time, so tried to buy it. I even posted here on Freddies: not one response.
But, 3 weeks after the encounter, i still didn't have the scroll. And then I heared about the prices that were being paid for it. When I though about it, this SoM could get me enough cash for most of my SC. So i decided to sell it. asked to start at 10P, got a bid for 10P. But after that, someone pm'd me, and said he'd pay 15P. That was his bid, i didn't asked for 15P in first place. And I sold it to him.
I didn't got this arti for selling it. Else i wouldn't have waited 3 weeks+
But i had it, and I couldn't do anything with it because I couldn't get the scroll.
What do some of u expect me to do??
shift d?
throw on ground?
give it away?
keep in inventory till i quit daoc?
or just wait for third scroll, wich might never come, cause even if it was being sold, I'd still didn't have the cash, cause I only got 4P and i was saving for armor?
so pls think about it before u judge people. Sidi weapons were being sold all the time for a lot of cash. Some peeps lottood and put it for sale 10mins later, while others in loto really needed it. where were u whiners than?
btw, ty Pin, u were one of the guys that think before posting.

Now that Robby explained the situation, I expect to see a lot of people apologizing for their wanton flaming. (Not that it'll ever happen, but still.)

Why? lol, although he seems to think the "give it away" option is funny, if his guild helped him raise 16p then he should have given one of them the SoM if he doesn't intend to use it? Because he needs money is pointless because in the end he'll no doubt end up needing it again and have to farm another one. A the moment the entire realm needs to do "need before greed" with the artifacts where if you don't intend to use it let someone else have it.
