Blizzard will do like there other games, making sure they selling lots of it, and then not giving any sort of support, or saying a patch will come out where you have to wait for 1 year orso. They make nice games, but they dont know how to give support

1) blizzard stands for a game that will get hacked, diablo2 was a menace and their responce to it caused many innocent players to get their chars deleted
2) that honor system... wtf honor, they'll lose even honor if they kill lowbies or quest npc's they (accidently?) attacked and even then if u are a top player and get much honor u'll be the protector of ur capital (to bad they can't yell "For Arthur !!!!1111)

I have been playing all Blizzard games so far and liked all of them except Warcraft 3. I played Starcraft/Broodwar for over 2 years on a daily basis. Then moved on to Diablo 2 which was great fun also until the cheating became too much. I am sure Blizzard has done a great job on WoW but it's not a game I would like to play: it just caters a different audience than most DAoC players are. WoW will be 90% full of people who usually play Sims or some other sick shit; the vast majority will be 13-year old perma-pissed Swedes who spend more time googling for cheats than actually playing the game... now add the Disney graphics (which was one reason why I never played Warcraft 3 although I was a big fan of WC1 and 2 as well as SC/BW) and you got my biggest nightmare come true.

For people that enjoy PvP in a MMORPG there is no alternative to DAoC. For people that are interested in traditional roleplaying and PvE there is no way around Everquest 2 (I have played it for 2 months and it is a fantastic game with many features I wished DAoC would have - but no PvP got too boring in the end).

After the release of NF Hib population was at around 280-300 at primetime. Now we got about 320-340 at that time. I guess some people will leave and check out WoW and a big percentage of those will come back to DAoC in a few months. I am very much looking forward to Catacombs (especially the new graphics engine and the new classes) and I hope they dont screw up server clustering cause I think it can have big potential combined with instanced RvR (will be fun to have 'access' to more players and then do instanced RvR).

I agree WoW isnt the best thing out there, but bare in mind its not all about the game Dom.

Im off to play wow for two reasons, main one being most of the guys I played long time daoc from beta are there theres no substitute for that kinda fun its the folk behind the toons that make logging on worthwhile.

WoW wont ever be daoc but for the immediate now its deff a better option

It's gonna be a tough blow for DAoC in the weeks to come, but I think the game will manage well enough. PvP on WoW can't compete with DAoC just yet, so this game probably has a solid playerbase at least for the moment.
That said my subs on DAoC are cancelled and I'm eagerly awaiting my copy of WoW to play with about a dozen old daocers

Free to play services are not great examples of security, at least diablo 2 had the option of just playing with your m8s and choosing not to hack (although ofc it was a hack nightmare otherwise), WoW and D2 are two different games and server/client side features are implemented in different ways.

Mind you Blizzard may not really have much clue or care to learn the lessons of the past, only time will tell. Their product placement and advertising skills/blurb on the other hand are excellent

I dont agree with you here, the people at wow are GREAT at giving support.
The GM feature ingame rocks, you almost get insta respond compared to
rightknow. If goa had the same GM system as the us/wow have, I might still
play the game. I hope WoW will get a very good pvp reward system though,
couse the way daoc's pvp system is.. unmatcable atm

Like you guys all know the game called World of Warcraft just got released about 3 hours ago, and it's going to be some hard days for DaoC , cuase like WoW is new , many people will move into WoW to try it or to stay forever . So even if our population gets lowered , lets keep up the fun in the best way possible - DAoC is just the best game many of us we have played , so like the title post says, Long Live Camelot !!

To be honest , i have heard many people think DAoC is going to get down a lot in population , maybe it's true cause the big impact of WoW , and because many players want to try something new , but daoc has been - is - will be the best mmrpg game that has been released out. It mixes a great system of Battles and stuff that it has made it so great - of course it lacks the intense and fun of maybe the first or second year of it, but it's a great game yet .

Didnt Mythic come up with some cluster thing think we will have rvr lateron pretty much as we have had the past months, I will go to WoW I think, fancy to try it anyway. I will still play DAoC though, really good game
