Most people are saying WoW is really good.. but i've played the beta and quit it within 3 days because i think it's just boring, all you do is solo and quest (which is boring) because no-one will group with you.

Has anyone else found that WoW is boring and DAoC much better?

:eek2:

when I was playing beta I didn't care for grouping unless I needed a quest that was hard for my lvl/class. I just wanted to decide what to play and see if the game sutisfies me. tbh if you asked many people would care to grp (I spent a hole day with a guy from america doing quests and helping each other). I have healed people that were nearly to their death and didn't even thank me. I have cured people and /kissed /huged spamed me..
so maybe it is just you..

theres also wow forums..

and about quitting the community i get that but do people have to come in saying the games boring all the time? if a new player read all the whines and crap they wouldnt continue to play.
tbh: Most new players won't find daoc to buy, if they check support, and check some facts they go for another game, the oppinions of people who did quit won't make it worse, if there would be some changes that would change it for the better. For an MMORPG support is one of the most important elements

wouldn't say daoc was stealing the quest ideas from WoW - WoW quests sound just like CoH quests to be honest ;) lots of quests to level on which fill in back story... None of it's exactly rocket science either mind you, probably been in some MUD somewhere and on the mud-dev mailing lists several years back.

daoc old world quests tend to be of the "epic" nature though I think by "epic" they thought "lets send them across the entire game world" :)

stuff in catacombs is a bit less "epic" but the quests build on each other and you learn more about the background of the place, again much like WoW and CoH....

There's no such thing as a new DAoC player. It'd be easier to start playing EQLive now than to start playing DAoC from scratch. And that's assuming that someone looking for a new game to play can even FIND DAoC.

Todays WoW-rumor from VN-boards:

EU wow 14 of January:
"A friend called Vivendi today and he was told the game would be on the market the 14th.

FNAC.com (listed as a partner for preorder) said the game would be shipped the 15th.

So 50 days left to wait "

I wouldn't be a LOT on this schedule holding up though. But who knows:)

When I pre-orderd WoW I talked to the guy in the shop and he said he had talked to someone at Blizzard and he had said it will be released 14 january.

WoW at the moment is just a more polished MMORPG than DaoC..They dont really have PvP implemented that well atm, but it'll come. DaoC used to have really great PvP but I have to admit New Frontiers has fucked it up more than I imagined..just not fun any longer :p

It will be interesting to see the population figures after its released..but tbh, this board represents a small number of the player base..Most of the ones that come here are whiners..who are looking for something new to sink there powergaming teeth into..I myself are looking to try wow but not untill they sort out the PvP.

I am a PvE player who likes the PvP Endgame..if thats lacking I will prolly stick to daoc for the next year or so.

I played WoW US open beta for just under 2 weeks. In those 2 weeks, I had fun. Real fun. Not "yay, I grinded another level fun". I'm talking about enjoying playing an MMO. 2 weeks of fun, with no feeling of "I'm not going anywhere". That alone is enough for me to pre-order the game.

To those who slag of questing in WOW - it beats killing the same mobs over and over again ala DAOC. You can usually get 2/3 of a level by doing quests, lots of exploring, and lots of things to kill on the way. You never feel like you're grinding.

And if 5 people have the same quest, all 5 people get the credit for completing the quest. AND you can share quests with party members.... so if someone hasn't got the quest that the other 4 members do, share, and usually he/she can get it too!
And there's loads of quests to do.... I loved the fact that I got to level 18, and never needed to buy any equipment at all - everything was quested for, or dropped while I was doing quests.

The PvP is good fun too, and will probably get better once rewards are implemented.

:D

people can do quests in daoc too as well for equip, my dad has gone 1-11 without buying anything yet all because of quests but not many people do them anymore, they only tend to do the quests they need for the item for thier template etc..

Edit : i know 1-11 isnt very much but imo its quite cool :p

CoH which was my most "recent" payed for mmo, started off really fun but around the 30's it just feels like eternity when trying to level.

Ehmmmm, if you play City of Heroes to 'grind through the levels' you're playing the wrong game.

The entire point of CoH is to enjoy the PvE in it; coz surely there aint anything once u hit the final level.. They talked about PvP-implementation when I played abit; but it wasnt in game yet.

So the sole reason to play CoH is to PvE (with friends).. If you're racing to get a level you dont get the point of the game imo :)

I enjoyed WoW, but, not enough to pay 13 euro a month or so and also having to buy the game for the full game price (50 euro).

I'll wait until all the hyped up kids stopped playing and the game drops in price a bit, if it will ever.

As I said somewhere else, the game is fun, but playing a good off-line RPG is just as fun for me.
