yes but mythic are shit and made the worst game i ever played

only played cs in beta, that was crap

the quests "intertwining" is just sugar coating, it doesnt actually add anything

its just so they dont have to think of new quests so they add onto old ones

you are obvioiusly just in love with a new game as many people are, ill get you get on with that, but it is after all just a game thats so similar to the rest
i dont remember posting what your quoted but nm.

The quests intertwine to give an actual story. like the defias brotherhood quests which span throughout the game and fill in loads of information about the dwarff's and gnomes. there are over 3,000 quests in WoW. most of which actually have a story behind them or fill in parts of a much greater story.

you might be the sort of person that doesnt bother reading them and just wants to level fast. but for those that actually take the few seconds it takes to read the quests text, might actually learn something about the characters background and the plots some of the "gangs" are plotting to destroy azeroth.

It is a new game, and i do like it alot, infact i like more now in beta than i ever liked DAoC. In WoW the game is just fantastic and the community is just a big bonus. In DAoC if it wasnt for the community i would never of enjoyed the game. Some of the best people i ever met were within the first few months of the games life. Now adays little can be said about the community. pretty much everyone is out to "pwn" eachother.

But hey if you dont like WoW thats your choice, One thing is for sure though, DAoC wont live forever, what will you be playing then ?

He's right here you know, All those intertwining quest's are just a clever way to fool you into thinking they have put alot of effort in. As for there being 3000 quest's and being so much fun reading them, bleh. If your so into that stuff, go read a decent book based on that type of mythology already ;). Daoc has loads of quest's 2 which they add to also, pretty much nobody reads them anymore. Its just, spam the white boxed words spam the white boxed words and etc.

This guy who was sort of Pro-WoW kinda sums it up :)

I think WoW is a nice product so far.
The fact that you can kill mobs for exp or quest for exp is nice.
You can advance well solo, or in a group, the choice is yours.
The game world is huge, and graphics are quite good looking.
I have found nothing that anoys me about it so far, and I really don't get the feeling it's boring and simple.
PvP is rather limited at the moment, but next patch would bring better PvP and they also promiced to add more high level content.

Lets see. You can do all of that in Daoc except the PvP isnt limited and you already have loads of PvE high level content.

It's pretty obvious that all the pro-WoW peeps are just looking for a new mmo , something to start fresh in. It's abundantly clear that WoW is just like Daoc except its quest's system is a tad better but errr I'd have to be honest and so will you when you try to think, I'd say 90%? of the people I talked to didnt enjoy quest's because once you've done the first 100 quest's its all remarkable similar and repeditive. heh I mean how interesting can it be to go talk to Mob A, collect items of Mob B and C then head off to give items to Mob D before finally killing him xD. It's simply the fact people want something new and ye at first WoW does seem new and exciting, will you be able to say the same in 2 years ? or even a year ? the PvE stuff wont last long and HAHAHAHAH at them sorting the PvP and PvP balancing. Also lmao @ them not wanting a gap in the power gamers and casual's. The power gamers wont be staying long if there isnt an advantage to be had for playing more / as intensely. The Hero Points sound like just the edge of a nasty RA sword ;>. When daoc started Realm points did 0 except add up to give you better titles that nobody except an enemy could see ^^.

And thats why I am going wow =) the ability too be there from the begining. Wonder what It would be like too start all "fresh" on Daoc now with no RL friends playing it. I guess not too much fun.

Besides no Toa, Artifact, High RR gank grps (Yet) in WoW. But yes it is daoc in a new package. I loved daoc before, but when it became more of a 24/7 Job it was kinda lol, this game is sad.

Exactly its always fun the first time, maybe the second but it gets boring and dull when you seen most of the places. At that point you just start to seek the fastest way to do it (moderna, AC, fins etc.)

I think places like Moderna and AC have taken the fun out of the game :< most of the new ppl in the game proberly dont even know where dartmoor / lyoneese(sp?) or what about the fairy well(not sure whats it called) but you hibs know what I mean :) im sure / hope catacombs might bring somthing new into the game. TOA/NF killed teh game near enough for me as I like playing tanks which is very had to servive in NF unless your in a zerg or GG. :< wow might be fun or might not be ill be there leveling when it comes out.. iv not played the beta as I didnt wanna ruin the game.. so I make my own opinions when it comes out in the EU :)

Most people are saying WoW is really good.. but i've played the beta and quit it within 3 days because i think it's just boring, all you do is solo and quest (which is boring) because no-one will group with you.

Has anyone else found that WoW is boring and DAoC much better?

:eek2:
well as i remember it in the beginning of daoc release I grouped with a friend for the first 5 levels in daoc.. the rest i soloed til Yggdra forest and Undead camp where i grouped some (that was so cool) .. then again soloed to 40+ and after that got the last few levels in malmo.. Also soloing or not soloing is really up to you.. for all the "harder" quests I had no trouble finding a group I just announced on /1 general and within minutes I was in a group.. And yes I played group useless hunter.. Also even though it was beta we got a guild up and running at the stop we where 15 people ranging from lvl 5-28.. sure enhanced the fun.. For me WoW was all fun and the fact that you can get in a group as a hunter was really nice. WoW PvP will be awesome where it will be something that I can do with my friends that play the game sure its easy having about 4-5 IRL friends that play the game in WoW 5 players is a group.. in DAoC 8 players is a group.. thats a big difference... Did you have a chance to do a Instance? I must ask cause a instance is almost impossible to solo through if you dont wait until the quest grays out.. I did both Rage Fire Chasm and Wailing Caverns wich where great to just play through and guess what our group almost never stopped to sit down regain end or mana and stuff we just played through it with some rest after being beaten alot.. The scenary is amazing PURE amazing im sure not gonna forgot as we where closing in on Rage Fire instance where I spot this evil looking named DUDE with Horns in the head and a BAD ASS 2 handed sword, 3 of us that was playing using headset and voice comm just was chocked... "GAH HAVE YOU SEEN THE EVIL DUDE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CAVE" well he wasnt so evil we pretty much ganked him but it was way cool :flame:

I could write probably a whole book why wow is better then daoc.. Soloing is a bit more like diablo = no buffbot needed to not sit down between each mob you kill.. and its the small things like not having to klick and drag a item from invent to lets say boots to put em on.. right click and its done.. WoW is just more simple and more relaxed and more fun. Pet naming and training, auction system, trade skills, questing, SKILLS and TALENTS system, The world and the view (atleast from horde point havent played alliance up to mroe then lvl 6). Ill even put in PvP its so thougth true and seemed balanced.. If you didnt hit lvl 20+ and start going in to contested territory you wont even have a clue how well built WoW is. Oh and those that play daoc dont even think of playing anything then a PvP server.. WoW has taken the best parts of every mmorpg out there.. refined and tuned it.. added som new content and put it in a amazing package.. im gonna be so restless until Euro release..

nothing can get worse then SWG, people only played it becaues 'it is starwars' and as a game it was total shit, if it wasnt for the starwars thing it would have been dead now most likely...

I did Rage Fire Chasm, was great our team was amazing.

Me (Warrior) and 3 undead Warlocks :p but no one died, but we did do major abuse of heath stones hehe, think i needed a new one every Battle, but the 3 extra Voidwalkers really did help when it came to aggro duty.

I love the loot system, having the little Dice icon is very neat, and the Auction houses and Mail system are very handy, like my friend was miles away but i had a nice drop for him, so i no longer needed to travel miles to give it him, but i just mailed it.

;)

Roll on Europe retail, Tauren Warrior + Kodo action hur hur!

Yes I have. And since I will only get to play two days a week if i'm lucky, I don't think it will be worthwhile to subscribe to a game.

There are some annoyances with WoW but its like the first mmo in ages (including DAoC, EQ, UO, CoH, SWG) that doesnt feel like a grind when leveling. That alone makes it fun for me.

CoH which was my most "recent" payed for mmo, started off really fun but around the 30's it just feels like eternity when trying to level. WoW on the otherhand didnt feel like a grind through the time i spent on the beta (got to level 31)

Even tradeskills were fun to do (fishing just rocked imho)

It's amazing what you can find when fishing. Some guy on server 4 who had fishing capped out caught a level 54 rare item (blue item) at level 26, which sold for quiet a bit of gold.

1. whats uo?

2. DAoC is more for the players who like adreniline rushes especially in RvR, WoW is a sleepy boring relaxing lazy person's game who likes to solo and be bored and have no PvP tbh...

Yeah, it's quite the adrenalie rush to stand and wait for the 2fg
of albs camping bledmeer faste while 7fg mids try to enter it.

DAOC has gone downhill since I started to play this game.

WoW, on the other hand, has everything I want in a MMORPG.

I am just glad I quit DAOC.

Makes you wonder how anyone started playing daoc retail if ppl only play for the "adrenaline rushes, especially in RvR" (also gonna have to tell me where adrenaline rushes are to be found anywhere else other than than RvR btw). Yanno, you remember when noone was lvl50, everyone was PvEing and people actually had fun that didn't revolve arounf wtfpwnz0ring everyone else and being RR10 etc...

This is why daoc will have a serious problem with WoW, regardless of what the people in denial in this thread say. Daoc just doesn't have any "adrenaline rushes" anymore. None, nish, nada, zip. Unless you have a bot to PL your fotm class ofc so you can go wtfpwnz in RvR (with said bot parked safely at tk), and are salivating about the goodies in Catacombs (like, who is actually excited about this expansion?)

I really enjoyed daoc, but Mythic just went wrong. They made some bad decisions that changed the daoc landscape forever. For example, reluctance to deal with bots, heavy handed nerfs (such as tanks in NF), pizzpoor design decisions (e.g. casting speed not resulting in reduced DPS), in fact ToA in general. So the time has come for me, and evidently many others to move on.. WoW is where I'm and lots of others are headed, not because its awesomely bloody super, but because its new, and well, its not daoc...yet. Given 3 years, and hundreds of questionable design decisions later, Blizzard might turn WoW into the "must have 2 accounts to avoid getting wtfpwnz0red constantly grindfest" that is daoc today. In the meantime, we got at least 2 years of pretty good MMORPG gameplay, just like the golden days of daoc.....

Also ironic you mention "who like to solo". One of the things that really annoyed me about Daoc when I came back after a break was I couldn't find a grp. Cos ppl who were levelling outside of Moderna, were...you guessed it...soloing with thier bot.....Can't you see the irony!

*cough* Off-topic *cough*

This is a thread in a DAoC off-topic forum about WoW. What better place for me to grind my axe, huh!?

Also, I bet that others, like me, have been kinda getting more and more bored with DAoC for months. The difference is I have played WoW now, and now I just can't play DAoC anymore. However, I have one month left of daoc subs, this entitles me to one more month of sticking my oar in on any threads on these daoc boards that I fancy....

Cheers.

Yes, because when a person quit daoc he/she automatically has to quit the community aswell.
