Most people are saying WoW is really good.. but i've played the beta and quit it within 3 days because i think it's just boring, all you do is solo and quest (which is boring) because no-one will group with you.

Has anyone else found that WoW is boring and DAoC much better?

:eek2:

I have, played much of the whole open beta but I sort of know what will happen after level 20 which I reached. More questing.. questing with no whatsoever difference in those that DAoC offers and on side on that DAoC offers the best PvP around so no WoW for me atleast.

Found WoW boring, simple, and lacking anything that would interest me tbh.

Questing was alright I support, but thats all.

Its new, lots of hype around WoW atm, so many will be liking it for a few months or so, I just see another SW:G happening.

I think WoW is a nice product so far.
The fact that you can kill mobs for exp or quest for exp is nice.
You can advance well solo, or in a group, the choice is yours.
The game world is huge, and graphics are quite good looking.
I have found nothing that anoys me about it so far, and I really don't get the feeling it's boring and simple.
PvP is rather limited at the moment, but next patch would bring better PvP and they also promiced to add more high level content.

Every game has it's good and bad points, but I would say WoW is very promising and I sure will give it a try.

i played open beta for about 2 weeks on and off, got in a good few grps and even a raid

Seemed to me that there was plenty of group action, in fact the majority of time there were grps asking for me, also they share quests and things like that which promotes grps

I sold my daoc acct after 2 weeks of WoW and ill be there on launch with my gun and pet waiting :p

Once again it comes down to the world.

Very little new is offered by MMORPG's these days except a new setting for it, and a few cookies. Usually without milk.

But those who played all the warcraft series, some of the series and so forth, will love the world.

Same with SW:G. Hardcore fans and people who enjoy the setting stay there.

Did you buy DAoC because it got good points in technicality or did you buy it because of trolls, fantasy, camelot and the sorted?

Hell, even anarchy online is nowadays moving along just because of a devoted fanbase that stuck with a crappy game and now t's goodalicious.

Alot of the things I love about WoW right now are the things I loved about daoc when I played the daoc open beta. Sadly Mythic decided to add endless layers of grind once I was hooked. Blizzard may or may not do the same thing, but I am willing to jump ship to HMS WoW and /point and /laugh as the creaking and aged HMS DAoC sinks with hardly anyone on board.....

Ooh, a bit harsh there. Seriously though, I had a hoot on WoW open beta. Yesterday I logged my warrior on Mid/Exc, with renewed MMORPG fever and set about levelling Malice. 20mins later, after pressing the same 2 attack buttons over and over, and getting about 2% on the bastage axe from hell, I quit, and cancelled my daoc resub. I kinda hope that Blizzard realise that retaining your customers isn't just about adding layers and layers of truly mind numbing grind.

Oh yeah, that and NF nerfed tanks, n1 Mythic. So, roll on February \o/

By reading the VN catacomb boards i think they sort of copy'ed WoW's quest ftw system so I think it might be as good as WoW, if not better. And why start on a new game when you got your toons from 1 2 3 years already? Especially when they seem to offer the same thing (with catacombs that is)

Oh yea, and u will se catacombs here in eu.. when .. 2006?... bet u wont be playing there anymore..

I loved wow alot, atm it is far from done and still lots of things they are working on (especially PVP and PVP balancing) but they will hopefully be done with most of that by the time the first people hit 60 :).

Quest system is awesome and some quests (gets better and better the higher level u get) are just incredible fun and wellmade. Tried a raid into Alliance lands with about 200 people and no lag at all, comming fro mdaoc with lag when u see more than 50 peoeple to this makes me cheer up!

WOW will deffinently be a great game, sure some will jump ship after a little time going back to daoc, most of those will be the hardcore rvr people though.

WOW sure is a slap in the face for mythic but both will keep going on.
Like the fact Blizzard try to keep the line bewteen hardcore and casual gamers as little as possible, and that they are preventing people from farming loads and loads of items and selling for cash irl by making them soulbound.

They also will implent a pvp reward system when they got the battlegounds and like done, but no rush for me yet though, got more than enough fun in just killing still

new game means, new world. Which means new story and new world to discover, which to me is half the fun. Off course it doesnt have to be for you.

Hit lvl17 first day. And from my own experience about groups they are not hard to find once you leave the n00b area. Had a quest in Wetlands, where the mobs where lvl27 and boss lvl30-34 dont know exactly. And i was with my lvl22 hunter and lvl21 pet. I asked once in /1 any anyone wanna try this? lvl22 hunter here. Pretty much got spammed by around 30 players. So ended up in a group with 4 lvl27. This would never i mean never happen in daoc unless you knew the other players. This was at 11.00 am, and we ended up questing for the following 11 hours, had a blast, gained 5 lvls was too lucky with the drops :( And a few gold richer and some nice items to equip. And the best part a backpack full of medium hide and raptor eggs :D

A couple of faults I found with WoW:

Grouping didn't seem to offer any benefits - you just get exactly half standard xp for your level when duoing, even though you're killing much harder mobs. Me and my husband actually found that doing the same quests together was more beneficial xp wise if we weren't grouped.

Mob pops - these were way too low - most people in the lower levels were xping through quests, even when the populations were low I found some quest mobs completely camped out, and one of them only had a spawn of 3 mobs (when you had to kill 15 of them).

omg l33t n00blets! So many of them it was just stupid - maybe I missed out on that in the early days what with Prydwen being the nominal roleplay server, but it was like playing with a million 12 year old kids.

I didn't see any benefits over daoc that Mythic aren't planning to implement over the next few patches/expansion, and I found the levelling pace to be pretty similar.

Personally I'll stick to daoc where I have a stable base of friends, characters and the fact that I know my realm and server like the back of my hand.

Dont make your judgements on WoW now.

Beta is there for test purposes to stress the servers and catch any missed bugs. It is not a "demo" of the final product.

Personally i loved it, leveling wasnt a grind, quests were fun and omg actually had a story to them. grouping was easy enough and very fun, specifically when doing the instanced dungeons which are amazing. PvP while not finished in WoW yet (still missing PvP rewards, hero's etc) was fun, i loved raiding enemy towns.

In my opinion WoW is a classic in the making and come release im sure it will do extremely well.

it is like a demo actually, the game engine is as it is and its almost complete, easily far enough to judge it

now stop trying to sell the game, they only copied elements of every other mmorpg, thats all there is left now.

long live the matrix online! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xabi alonso says so

funny how other mmo's that have been out for years are also copying some of the features from WoW though.

like Mythic using the quest system from WoW in there latest patch!. WoW isnt finished the basics are there sure. But there PvP systems aren't in yet, a majority of the high level instances arent in yet.

Now if playing a character to level 5 or so for you means you've seen it, then fine. Your obviously not the right person for an mmo. go back to CS.

The purpose of an mmo is that you play a character that evolves, while basic to start out they get much better. This also means some of the lower end content is simple like kill xxx mobs, deliver this to there! etc etc.

Once you hit level 10-15 you start to get quests which intertwine and develop a story which stretches throughout the game. Alliance for instance has a series of quests which start at level 11 (The Defias Brotherhood) which goes on throughout the game till the late 50's. There are dozens of these quests in the game, which tell stories about how Gnome's lost there city etc, background information on the Dwarfs, Humans, Trolls, Undead.

After playing DAoC for well over 3 years, WoW was a nice change, but WoW made a far greater impression on me now, than DAoC did when i started playing towards the end of beta.

The first time i entered Stormwind or Ironforge i was blown away. Can't really say the same about Jordheim or Camelot even in its super new Catacombs form.

Personally I dont't think WoW is dissapointing in any way. As said its a totally new game and of course that has a lot to do with how I feel about the game. But there are just so many things in it that really brings daoc to shame, like for example a thing like the auction house, I think its such a great way to find/sell items and if you are bidding on a hot item where you have others bidding aswell it really adds to the fun instead of just doing a market search and hurry up to buy (if you are willing to pay the high prices that so many people feel a need to charge) or go to a forum to bid and not be sure if its even gonna be sold.

Gamewise I think its great since theres so many options to lvl up, not like daoc where you struggle to find a grp and not having to put yourself in the situation where you feel you are getting nowhere because you know theres so much to do to be able to compete properly in rvr (toa ect). And probably the best thing, no fu*kin buffbots to give players in my opinion a unfair advantage, and even better not screw up the grouping the way I think it has in daoc. Sure theres not been much grouping in WoW but it was beta, I like grouping a lot of course but in the beta I wanted to try it out myself in some way. Finally I think its gonna be a game where theres not the horrible gap between powergamers and casual players like in daoc, not to mention no thing like rr to get you awefully addicted in getting more and more rpts.

WoW >>> Daoc in all ways!

actually they are implenting hero points for pvp, to give you some reward, i still have no idea what u use these points for but got a feeling it is to buy special items/or abilitys. but i really dont know, im sture they wont overpower u as blizzard really dont want that gap between powergamer snad casual

Hopefully the rewards will be items etc.. that are prestigous (perhaps fancy looking items etc..) but don't actually make you any better in combat. Really don't hope they don't include a RA system like daoc, which just made the people with the ability to RvR all day even more difficult to kill for the people with ir lives ;)

yes but mythic are shit and made the worst game i ever played

only played cs in beta, that was crap

the quests "intertwining" is just sugar coating, it doesnt actually add anything

its just so they dont have to think of new quests so they add onto old ones

you are obvioiusly just in love with a new game as many people are, ill get you get on with that, but it is after all just a game thats so similar to the rest
