when there is a teenage shooting on the news i think of grand theft auto
when someone stabs someone else i think of dark age of camelot
tell me how you dont associate any violent act with a computer game

when people take drugs i think of heavy metal where people dress like they havent heard of a barbershop, dress like they just crawled out of a rubbish tip, then clawed their way through a scrapyard with a magnet attached to their pants only to go to a concert where someone shouts something inaudible over the out of sync guitar raping sessions, to beat up the people closest to the stage
tell me how you dont associate drug abuse and violence with heavy metal

again double standards

I dont have double standards... I'm saying what I see. People use violent video games as a scape goat for people who are already mentally disturbed, dont think I've ever read of a case in the UK of someone blaming a murder on a computer game.

Who cares if it's associated with crime etc, the rapping from the first page can't be called music, it was terrible :S can't compare it to playing an instrument or playing a sport :Z

or u could just take the oh so "lawfull" band Cypress hills and listen to insane in the brain and see what THAT song tells ya to do ;)

the word Bong comes up quite alot, and it aint in a negative way either :)

rap/hip hop/r n b, whatever ISthe "bad boys" music genre. how many heavy metal bands exist that have open street shoot outs? and how many hiphop bands have? how many heavy metal bands out there openly tells u to "shoot the cops" and how many hiphop bands tells ya to?

or, like cypress hills says, get high coz its cool....

and no, good rap doesent have to be associated with crimes. but its what 95% of the shit is. its about rape, killing cops, getting high and being a general asshat. "coz its cool" >.<

now ofc theres always bad apples in all the musical genres, but way to many of em seem to end up on the hip hop scene...

That's like removing drums/guitar/bass whatever from a metal band?

Personally I think that freestyling takes major talent and you need a sharp mind and a very large vocabulary to sound even semi decent..
Look at Eyedea! If either one of you(who claims that it doesn't take talent and great skills to become a good freestyler) started training now as a freestyler you would never ever even be half as good as he is!

Different stuff takes different kinds of talents ofc..
Guitar = Fingers
Freestyling = Sharp mind and a good humour to humiliate your opponent..

edit:

If it was so terrible how come it's so big today? Perhabs you think The Scissors Sister or what ever you listen to is great.. But a whole lot of people all around the world thinks rap/RnB/Hip-hop is the shizzle fo' nizzle my drizzle?!:)D) And if you can't call rapping a form of music what is it then? It takes skills to make some proper rap, just as it takes skills to make any other kind of music, eventho you're just banging some drums, playing around with a computer or making a huge symphony! It's all about what you like and what you don't!

Cya I'm off for my nightly :wanker:

Wow you must hate near enough everything replace tracksuit with spandex and you have just written off queen and aerosmith as being pointless. And its as pointless as the olympics or any other form of competition. None of it is needed but its people trying to see who is the best. So why can't you just say i don't like it instead of saying rap is shit and pointless ect.

And i have never heard a criminal base it on Rap.

And i have never heard anywhere in the world the criminal blame it on a game or rap its always the press who say a man today killed 4 people we found in his possesion a video game and a jay z album it is clear what has happened here he has been corrupted!

Its just a shame that it seems you have bough into that bull shit.

Well considering the music has helped to spark up a violence gang-culture (mainly in the US but it could be kind of considered here), I'd say if you were to remove rap's gangsta-references etc, the sales would go down.

It's no use debating it - because to an extent it is true. I know from personal experiance that teenagers enjoy the more recent, gangsta-rap. I've looked at enough IPods, Mp3's etc. to see it. Generally they may have a couple of older rap tunes and a wide range of new ones.

Even a monkey could learn to play guitar to a competent level. Where is the talent in growing your hair so its greasy and screaming into a microphone about how life sucks and how you want to murder your family?

Watch the up in smoke tour where west coast rappers rap in New York on the east coast which should be impossible because tupac said fuck new york and he wouls kill them all once. And you will also see bloods and crips interacting and not shooting each other because they are enjoying the music, again if gang violence was related to rap would they not be murdering every one in a different gang at a concert where the rap was live? And if you look into some of the project charities that say that rap has helped bring gangs together and get them talking rather than just shooting at each other. Find that Stanley Tookie website befor he died he had alot to say about how he though rap and films influenced americas youth.

And also its not rap that makes so called gangstas people like 50 cent and the game were into that life befor they became rappers so they make there music about something real rather than singing about how much they love xyandz.

I can not say they the game dose not make some twisted fuckers think killing people is cool but then you can't say that pop music basically says if you are good looking enough you do not need to worry about talent, but if your ugly and overweight you do not stand a chance at getting a record deal.

Rant over but i watched a really good dvd that destroyed the though that gang violence came about because of rap music

For the record, i like quite a lot of rap/hip hop. I dont claim to know anything about it but i can at least sit there and enjoy listening to them when they come on the radio, which is more than can be said for most of today's music. The only gun i've ever owned was a bb gun. Admittedly ive been arrested but that was only because i threw a bottle of water over a cop (it was an accident :()

It seems the further you sink into the whole "internet/forums" scene the narrower your vision becomes. Anyone who says "omg all rap is crap and it makes people violent" should get outside once in a while :| (Himse, Docwolfe) It would be fine if you targeted a specific artist, but you cant blanket the entire genre.

Great, you got the point entirely!

Freestylers are some of the best user of the language, it's a question of using the words against each other, and you have so short time to think up the stuff your rapping, it's incredibly.
The people that think it doesen't take skill or talent, try it out, just in your own room, try rapping out loud about something and see how hard it is. Then think that these people have to use each other's words against each other, it's sick how they manage.

Guess i'm a gansta wannabe for rapping,
i must be out with my 9 mil capping.
'cause if these guys say it then it must be so.
then again i'm talking 'bout a couple of closet emo :D

By the way, just as a bonus for your Seel Serving, RAP ain't music, quite true, it's Rhytm Associated Poetry.

just coz the name says one thing doesnt make it true. what freestylers do isnt music as such, but more an artform then. tho rap as a genre is music.

i'd like to think that rappers like 50 cent and snoopdogg doesnt promote violence, but they do and if people are fragile enough they'd take it to them. snoop dogg recently got busted with alot of weed and an illigal gun. bustha rhyme just beat up his driver and the list goes on. but the music isnt alone to do it, alot of other factors play their part as well.

Tupac thought he was hardcore. He actually believed he was something like his rap songs so he goes and jumps a crips member. GG tupac. Did he actually think there would be no comeback?

reason he and the other deathrow members did it, was because that crip and a few of his m8s jumped a member of deathrow and stole from him a few weeks before the incident

99% of people who listened to and purchased Rap are middle calls white boyz.
(ok maybe more like 80%)

And your right in saying rap is associated with violence and attitude, but it really should't be, cos it isn't actually the case, Although it is certianly featured in a lot of lyrics and videos, so i guess it's their own fault.

Where the hell did you come up with that, that is utter rubbish most middle class white boys to not no anything about rap except whats on radio one. That might be the sale for one persons album or single but for rap music as a genre hell no.
