The lie was irrelevant, it was bizaare, not sure what the ref expected? Neither he nor his assistant saw the handball, but they had a doubt clearly. Even had he admitted it, under the laws of the game the ref surely could not disallow a goal for an offense he did not see?

I think your right it was like when Robbie Fowler said it was not a penalty but the ref said he could not reverse it.

Hey, you've got to be in it to win it Cerb :)

And we are.

Oh and ECA, exactly what I was thinking, followed swiftly by the Argies :D

edit:// Just seen the incident at the end of the French match, with Domenech refusing to shake hands with Parreira, what a fucking joke. The guy has no class what so ever. Loved Parreira collaring him and demanding an explanation.

Does My bitterness show? :p

Ireland can go fuck themselves, they all laughed about Maradona's goal and said stop moaning. Listen to them now, the stupid mick fags.

Not in my family they didn't, we were all fucking gutted. My dad was a Dubliner but he loved Bobby Robson and always supported England apart from when they played Ireland which was a game he refused to watch. England gave my family a home, the abilty to earn a living and an education. My dad and his siblings were and are always massively grateful to this country.

As a football TV commentator, which of the world cup teams would you dread most - in terms of pronouncing the players' names?

yeah they could have planned that better couldnt they.

Miss the heroic performance against Brazil, but show a live broadcast of them getting battered by the European formation diving team

And the full version

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead.

In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility;

But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger: Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;

Then lend the eye a terrible aspect; Let it pry through the portage of the head Like the brass cannon: let the brow o'erwhelm it As fearfully as doth a galled rock O'erhang and jutty his confounded base, Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean. Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide; Hold hard the breath, and bend up every spirit To his full height. On, on, you noblest English, Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof- Fathers that like so many Alexanders Have in these parts from morn till even fought, And sheath'd their swords for lack of argument.

Dishonour not your mothers; now attest That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you. Be copy now to men of grosser blood, And teach them how to war. And you, good yeomen, Whose limbs were made in England, show us here The mettle of your pasture; let us swear That you are worth your breeding- which I doubt not; For there is none of you so mean and base That hath not noble lustre in your eyes. I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start.

The game's afoot: Follow your spirit; and upon this charge Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Fucking epic.

I read that Joe Cole is carrying a knee injury that's why he isn't playing. Reckon that's it or does Capello just not rate him?

It could be a case of the more ppl try tell him who to play the more he trys to show who is in charge by saying no.

if he's not injured he must have been crap in training because both capello and ancelotti have chose not to use him, tbf he was very poor for us this season

Joe cole was always a name and never really that good a player since leaving west ham , kinda sums up the england teams issues atm choosing names over players in form :(

Not a great lineup/formation but if they play to potential then we should be beating Slovenia with ease. After that I don't see anything other than an attacking 4-5-1 (with Gerrard in the hole) getting us beyond the second round. Our 4-4-2 is totally predictable because we have no real left winger and none of our right wingers can deliver a good cross 2 out of 3 times. So we would need to adopt a different playstyle now, crowd the midfield, work hard and give the ball to Gerrard at every opportunity to drive us forward through the middle.

is a strange formation, no width, lampard possibly on left instead of Gerrard, lots of pressure on full backs to provide width, yet no cover for them when they do push forward.

Good to see milner playing, but really dont like the formation - should be...

------------------Keeper (pick any, they all awful at times)--------

Johnson -------- Terry ---------Upson(Dawson) ------------A.Cole

---------------Barry -----------------

---------------- lampard ---------------
--------Gerrard--------

Milner (bring Lennon on when players tire) ------------- J. Cole

------------Gerrard------------
-------------Rooney ----------

Formation is much what all of England want, but Capello is being the annoying Italian and doesnt play an attacking lineup.

Defensively we have Barry giving help by covering the hole, fullbacks have cover from wingers when needed so wont be doubled up on.

Offensively -
Easier for Fullback to push forward knowning they wont be leaving 2 players behind
Lampard can collect the ball and hopefully feed the wingers
Wingers have great ability to open up the opposition
Gerrard gets further forward and can influence game
Rooney has the role he done so well in this season

.........
Considering most the players dont play a 4-4-2 for most the season due to the fact it doesnt get teh best out of them shows it isnt the right formation.
