I actually respect Anelka for sticking to his guns and refusing to apologise publicly to the manager. He made his comments in private, and any apology should only be done in private IF anelka wanted to do so, but good on him by sticking to his views even if the French now will use him as a scape goat if they go out.

french football association director has quit his post over it. Sorry but you take such a big step to kick a player out the squad without even discussing it with the team then expect repercusions. Players will stick together when need be, and remember Evra is the captain and he someone that more then happy to stick his head where it hurts in arguements.
