yeah, i just think the whole thing is stupid. it wasn't bothering him or anyone else so just let him get the fuck on with it.

Didn't look at all fit, not that left midfield is really his position anyway. If Capello wanted a right sided winger to play left midfield Ashley Young should have been there all day long, twice the player that SWP is.

agree 100%. i have him in my fifa world cup team on the 360 ;D

I wish Chris Waddle was 20 years younger.

Is it just me or does SWP seems to slow down everytime he gets the ball? , i thought lennon was ok in the 1st half but i wish he would shoot more instead of trying to square it although you dont know what capello has told him to do.

I've got to say,
I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised over the level of referees thus far.
And this guy from the Eng-Usa game, apparently has a "history" but
it seems he left that at home. Fingers crossed it'll stay that way.

Oh and isnt it funny?
messiah are the players left at home!

Agreed , the level of officiating has been pretty good.

ITV should not be allowed to broadcast any football full stop. The coverage, commentary and general presentation is piss poor, regardless of putting adverts on in the middle of a game.

Adrian Chiles is such a bland fucker, even at exciting moments. Nice guy but shouldn't be lead presenter on something as big as the World Cup. Send him back to Working Lunch tbh.

christ, some people are being horrendously negative...(no surprise there i suppose).

I think people must have been watching a different game to me?

couldnt string 2 passes together? I thought it was the first time in a while we did put some passes together and were happy to pass across the back and into and back from midfield waiting for a hole.

Think some people jsut seem to want England to win 16-0 every game.

Decent performance, 1st group game, and something to build from.

give em a break ffs.

i thought heskey was average at best, he won alot of balls in the air only to head it strait to an american, he did really well with gerrard for the goal but missed a couple of great chances and once again spent 50% of the game on the ground

for me glen johnson stood out, was the only player not afriad to take people on, and skinned them every time didnt get tackled once, and whoever it was that said "but was shit defending again" can stick it up thier arse, clearly didnt watch the game atall as he never god beaten at the back really and usa didnt really build anything down thier left was all central.

tbh just repeating what you heard in the pub last weak about a player and hoping it's still true just makes u look a ****

as for green, well i've said for about 6 months joe hart should be englands no.1, aslo think joe cole should have started, no1 else really gives us any creativity, but on the plus side i had an epic BBQ and got quite drunk and now have 5 hours sleep before a paintball tourneyment

My take on things...

I dont want to dwell on the Rob Green mistake. Fact is, England havent had a decent keeper since Seaman. Its a given that any England keeper WILL make a huge cock up at some point.

Overall, England were shocking. At best you could say average. Heskey, jesus christ. he should have buried that chance. To hit it straight as a die at the keeper was amateruish and exactly the reason he should be nowhere the england team. How many other national teams pick a shit centre forward because on occasions when he doesnt go down like a cheap whore he can hold the ball up? NONE. I said it weeks ago and I will say it again, england should pick the formation to match the players, not pick the players to match the formation and with this in mind, play rooney up front by himself. He was anonymous today, in fact, he wasnt even as noticeble as that. He struggles in a 4-4-2 because hes used to what he plays at Man United.

I dont think England are as bad as the scoreline suggest, but its just the same old. Alright on paper, but fail to gel as a team.

Anyone else think if Lampard was wearing a chelsea shirt he would have buried that chance?

When you get around to watching the highlights again , watch heskey and count the amount of ball he wins in the air only for an american player to get it its near 3/4 of the time also see the amount of times they go from an attacking situation all the way back to passing the ball back to the keeper ;)

Looked to me that at times they player just didnt want to have the ball , once a 1-2 between lampard and terry became a 5 pass back and over while standing still , im irish but even i was screaming ''WTF ARE YOU DOING???'' at the tv screen :(

Green is an ok keeper and keepers make mistakes but imo not a patch on joe hart and as for heskey , i dunno wtf he is doing even in the squad he isnt getting fuck all 1st team football at anywhere near the highest level , crouch should have been on in a support roll for rooney from the off , and lampard and gerrard just dont gel , they are great independantly but they need a playmaker in the middle to put some confidence in the teams ability to string passes together like beckham for example , just my 2 cents :drink:

We had enough chances to win it. Rooney seemed absent, lennon seemed absent par 3 crosses?, but i do worry about capellos selections. Obviously he knows best, but from recent performanes for England and club for that matter, i would play Crouch over Heskey, and Joe Cole on the left.

I didn't think England played that bad, USA is a rather good team imo.

But, SWP!? I'm also of the opinion that Lennon was bad as well, 90% of the dangerous flank on the right was down to Johnson.

Even now when sightly more "clear headed" I am sure if Theo had put in the performance Lennon did people would say it was shit :)

I though it was a decent game over all but i though too many heads dropped after the own goal they did not get them selves back into it.

People might not like them, but that´s how they´re watching football down there. When an african team is playing in Europe, you won´t hear them complain about the annoying chanting and cheering either. In South America, you can hear 90 minutes of Samba drums *shrug*

Well you wont win a tournament by drawing games, so yes we do want them to win, by any score!

Pretty much sums it up for me tbh, same old players, same old shit.

People will criticise Heskey no matter what he does. He turns in a man of the match performance and the only thing some people have to say is that he should have 'buried his chance'.

He's not a great goalscorer and he never will be. But would Defoe, Bent or Crouch have been able to win all those aerial balls, hold them up and lay them off as intelligently? A resounding 'no' from this England supporter.

As I said in another thread - if we drop players who actually turn up for England whilst retaining passengers like Lampard, just because they happen to play for a "big club", we'll never win a damn thing.

TBH i thought Heskey did a great job last night.

Ok he didn't take his chance but if you expect Heskey to take his chances these days you're probably expecting too much :p

As good a scoring record as Crouch has, he doesn't seem agile enough for the target man role and bringing others into play.

For all the reliance placed on Rooney he seemed to do very little last night.
