Thats one of the worst halfs of football I have watched.

Not only are ITV completely useless. They miss the goal on HD, and for most of that half it hasn't been in HD, it's still normal definition at the moment. They should just give up showing football.

And then Rob Green goes and does that!

I'm glad they took Lennon and SWP because it would have been hard for Theo to do absolutely nothing to the standard they have set! :)

Looks like this is the World Cup of disapointing games.
France, Argentinia, England... not one of the big names managed to show a convincing performance so far. Let´s see how Germany will do tomorrow.

I thought that was a good performance from England tbh, apart from the goalkeeping shocker.

lennon had a good game. SWP is a pathetic joke, much like ITV's coverage. all in all the result is 'fine' but it really was a good summing up of england's shortfalls. the americans were first to every ball, worked harder, wanted it more. heskey was inspired, king and carragher both looked a shadow of the players that turn out for their club and lampard was pretty anonymous too often. johnson was really good going forward but sadly lacking at the back as usual, what was that bullshit with his bloody lip though? absolutely fucking pathetic.

as for rob green... send him home.

come on england ;\

That game was hardly disapointing from a neutral pov.
lots of attacking, "drama" and intensity..

England were unlucky with 1-1

Funny thing is, you just know they'll all blame Green for the drop and forget everything
about the butt-load of wide open chances the attack squandered.
Thats the British way ;)

yep, I'd pick Heskey and Lennon out as my stand out performers. Lennon skinned his guy a fair few times.

Rooney was anonymous, and had a fair few poor touches.

Not a bad game. Was always going to be the toughest of the group games and, on balance, we were the better team. Rooney started looking more dangerous as the game wore on. Heskey was the best player, Lennon not too far behind him.

SWP was dogshit, and Milner seemed to be struggling for fitness which made his starting look a tad odd.

bla bla bla

come on england ;\

obviousely we didnt watch the same game ?
Lampard was very active and had soem great passes and assists, just because he didnt have many shots on goal you deem him anonymous ?

SWP did a hell of alot better than the player he replaced, and gave the english left side some much needed life,

Rooney, well no suprise there, after all this was a game with something on the line ;)

As for the player beeing sent out for treatment ? those are the rules, they also apply to english players. "shocking, I know"

all in all, an entertaining game, ok reff "except too many cards"

Just got back, I thought we played really well. The USA didn't look any good, they were happy to sit back for the entire second half. Heskey did really well i thought. Shame about the mistake from Green :( What is it with England keepers?

When the americans did attack they showed our weakness at the back, lack of speed. Had enough chances to win the game, but heskeys attempt was shocking, and wright philips was also absolute gash, a right footed player on the left hand side not being able to curl the ball around a keeper is fucking lol.

Capello looks out of his depth!

I wish english players would try placing a shot now and then instead of just going for power , nearly every shot we had was straight at the keeper.

England played terrible , couldnt string together more than 2 passes , kept hoofing the ball up the pitch like a bunch of ameatures and hesky i think 75% of the time won the ball in the air only to pass lay it off for a yank , if crouch and hart were on from the start they would have won , also lampard and gerrard as a central midfield partnership just doesnt work :twak:

Englands problem has always been the same , basing the game around big name players and not finding players to fill the tactical roles , fix that and you will win some trophies

It has always been a problem in the past 20 years IMO. Back in the 80s, you had Shilton and Clemence. But after that, it went downhill with Seaman and Calamity James etc.

well, if they stopped constantly importing goalies and focused more on ...well you get the drift,

Lampard and Gerrad worked quite well in the midfield, England played well, and had Usa preaty pinned for most of the second half.

i said lampard went anonymous too often, l2read. when he was in the game, he played well, but a player of lampard's standing and talent needs to pull the strings from midfield and he was lacking for periods of the game. i am a chelsea fan and have had the utter pleasure to watch lampard week in and week out for years, he can do much better.

as for SWP, he has one dimension - pace and the ability to take people on. he did neither throughout the whole game except for one point where he took two people on. he definitely did better than milner, but strangely enough i actually expect players wearing an england shirt to do a hell of a lot better than that and SWP did not do enough.

the point about johnson was that he had a bit of blood on his lip, not pouring out over his shirt or anything else, it was utterly pathetic and a sad indictment to what the game is becoming.

edit; it was definitely a decent performance overall and it was encouraging to see gerard and lampard actually playing well together overall, but i expect more and we should 100% be beating teams like the USA.

Didn't look at all fit, not that left midfield is really his position anyway. If Capello wanted a right sided winger to play left midfield Ashley Young should have been there all day long, twice the player that SWP is.

Apparently he did becuase he had to put on a new shirt, wich "the england Staff" seemed to have missplaced down in the changing rooms ;)

I dont know about UK tv, but we got a preaty nice close up, and it definatly was a bit more than just a wee liddul cut, also the linesman got very close to him, wich is prob. why he was sent out for treatment.

Hatts off to USA though, they fought there hearts out, and got a result out off it,
but boy did they look tired near the end. Also Donovan had some bloody great crosses!
