Good idea in theory but you'd probably get one game where he'd be able to handle so much movement, his knee would be the size of a blimp for the rest of the tournament

I'm seriously surprised Scott Parker never got a sniff, he's like an energiser bunny in that holding role.

lampard also consistently performs at the highest level in a team of world class stars, remaining a key player in the squad whereas gerrard, well... liverpool.

We dont have anything against him, its just that everyone who likes him always tries to justify his place by attacking Lampards ability. None of them give real instances of when Gerrard earned the right to be classed as the better player, and all of them seem to ignore fact gerrard has had a very very poor season form wise.

The reason is Lampard loses out playing for England because he is not played in his best position, Gerard is played in an even worse position.

I think its because up until this season he has been immense for Liverpool. The kind of player every club would have in their team. However, for whatever reason, he never replicates his club form on the international stage and this frustrates people.

In my humble opinion, Lampard and Gerrard would not get into Spain's team ahead of Xavi and Iniesta. I would even question whether one would play them over Fabregas and Alonso.
