Well, I don't often venture into these forums but here goes.

My uncle and aunt live in the arse end of nowhere, their neighbours have ADSL, but they are on a different exchange and cannot get it, they are also a long way from their exchange and when its enabled in february they still might not be able to get it due to distance.

My question is,

could a wireless router plugged into the neighbours, give enough range to reach ~200-300 metres, I am guessing its possible but would both ends need signal boosting antennae?

Yup, you'd need to boost the signal but it's very possible.

They'd need to be directional antennae too, for that sort of range.
