Winter. Snow. Your get-up?

I watched a skiing contest in Kuusamo this weekend, and they had temperatures down to -20 and strong winds, good thing i sat in front of the tv. What are the temperatures in your hoods Toht?

Not equipped for those temperatures yet since im missing warm socks and protective trousers but it generally works with just jeans, random shoes and random jacket and a scarf in -2 to 3 degrees with snow and wind when you get used to it, here in Stockholm.

as the Dutch weather people said we were going to have a wind chill of -15C on top of the already -5C temp, I broke out my Fjall-Raven winter jacket rather than my regular winter jacket.

other than that my clothes were the same no changes. in fact, I made the mistake of wearing some light shoes rather than my boots. fuck me my feet were cold 0o

i saw people swimming in the ice a few days ago, crazy fools

it was explained to me that when the air is at -20 the water under the ice is still at around 0, so when you are in the water it feels warm!

to which i simply replied "and when you come out of the water?!?"

well yes of course it will feel warmer than the air, but when you come out you are cold AND wet a double bad thing!

i suppose finns might have a handy sauna nearby...
