i did about 11 quest the other day for my little cleric and i got an amasing 1.2 gold...

the items are ok but i mean its a bit pointless introducing this new 'reward' thing if we could make some money from the wuests the none ( really ) dose as they are too busy to level... make the exp better and make the cash alot better imo

well. one could argue that quests isnt ALL about phat lewt tho as theese quests have alot of back ground history about the realm to. but as 99% of the players isnt reading the text anyway u could just as much introduce a new NPC that just gave u the stuff at the apropriate lvl :( but yes. the cash rewards could be alittle better as u cant really buy anything from it :)

Quests or tasks? Tasking through out the lower levels is a much better and faster way to exp AND gain some nice cash for your level. When you get to the higher levels and you start doing ML's and stuff then the rewards far outnumber the time spent.

Some quests pay large amounts of cash, some very little.

Dark Places of the Soul and the Keeper (Neckie) Quest give excellent cash. (100+ gold (one off) and 15g for each time you run it, respectively.)

You didnt mention what level you are, nor the type of quests.

Having leveled the old fashioned way, the cash system IS appropriate for levels, it gives just enough to buy what you need. I will say the lower levels (1-10) do need a little boost, as often a few horse rides are involved.

You're kidding right? I levelled the old fashioned way, but the old quests give ridiculous cash amounts. Kill two mobs and you have about the cash you get for a quest that required you to travel all over the face of Midgard and back again.

Then again I don't know if increasing them is really necessary or desired. I've always done quests either for the quest item or for the story, I don't see myself doing quests for money even if they multiplied all the old cash rewards by 10..

I have to completely disagree with you there, i think what Thorarin said is closer to the picture, well its how i found teh old xp grind to be.

A) Always Struggleing with cash to buy decent weapons and equipment for you lvl.

B) Dieing many XP deaths because you couldnt kill blue con mobs because you had grey con armour/weapons

C) Getting into XP grps and the clerics complaining because if you ever got agro you died in a few hits.

D) Everyone squabaling over equipement drops, then sometimes ppl LDing "Accidently on purpose", and it just happens they had a drop.

Thats what the old days of XPing were like, there wasnt ever enough cash to buy equipment or any thing really, most of the stuff you got was quested drops which were only useful between certain lvls until the next weapon drop was available etc.

Thankfully its nothing like that now, i had some great memories of first playing but the eternal cash/equipment struggle was the comman players bane imo.

I think you lot have been spoilt with PL / SCd gear too much and its gone to your heads. The mere fact we all managed to get to 50 the old way proves you wrong in my opinion. Theres too many easy buttons these days, and Mythic are making it easier.

These days we all know what mobs to fight at 50 to get the best exp, but who can honestly say they know the best at 10, 20 or 30? Si gave out RoG drops, so the argueing over 89% dropped items from Spind and Vendo is over. Back then none of us gave a rats behind about resists, DPS or quality, we hit sommit till it died, got some loot, rinse and repeat.

What more do you want, a quest set that gives you enough cash to buy a full SC set? Perhaps your own house while you are at it? As you say Thor, quests are more geared for getting an item, or mostly to tell tales of the realm, not that anyone reads them anymore.

I stand by what I say, my chars did OK getting to 50. The only thing that sways me towards your thinking is the severe lack of grouping compared to those days.

The reason most old school albion players know pretty every npc and exp spot in alboin is cos they quested and did epics, like me, giving them very useful information about the realm. the coin is irrelivant and worthless half the time, altho at high levels (50) you get tonnes of MP gear and the MLs...wel best cash and drops in the game so cant complain.

Upon reflection, I do think a free set like the /level'ers get would be good at 5, 10 and 15, and make it sellable too for ppl without 50s....

By the way, some of the GOA quests indeed give a nice money. I remember one in Albion which you can do around 20. It gave me amazing 20g and 1 buble of exp. :) Some of these quests have a nice storyline too.
So check you nearest Ministrel or Bard or Skald - they probably have something to offer. :)

P.S. On another quest I actually lost 10g to complete it. I had a choice though, still wondering what would happen if I chose another option. :)
