omg thats actually exactly what i was thinking. also, gary oldman.. number 40??? JACKY CHAN, NUMBER 41?!?!??! WTF? chan isnt an actor, he's a stuntman. and oldman is the best actor i think i've ever seen in my life. should have been at least in the top 5.

oldman = omfg good. every film pacino has been in in the last 10 years has been average and he's just shouted a lot and generally shot people/got angry.

pacino is just the same in every film he does. same as spacey. and deniro. i judge and actors talent on how he can play different roles convinsingly. ok pacino can play a ganster/cop well, but could he play a crazy russian terrorist kidnapping airforce 1? (in airforce 1), me thinks not.

loads of people wouldnt know oldman if they saw him, simply coz he plays his different roles 'so' well its hard to recognise him. i mean loads of people wouldnt realise he plays Zorg in 5th elemant aswell as playing the druggy crazy cop in leon. 2 completely different roles both pulled off perfectly.

norten is the same. he can actually play different roles. from a nazi in american history x, to a regretful drug dealer in 25th hour (saw it last night, amazing film).

i reckon russel crowe should have been higher, maybe in the top 15, i think he was like 26 or something. he's a talented actor.

one person i would agree should be in the top 10 is tom hanks, he's one of my favourite actors and should really have been number 2/3.

don't agree about hanks but agree with the rest. i think hanks just does samey roles in all his films now.. appollo 13, road to perdition, private ryan - its all just tom hanks in the latest all american role. i think spacey does own tho - usual suspects, american beauty he was amazing.

havent seen 25th hour, but norton was awesome in american history x and fight club.

guy pierce i think was also overlooked- that guy rocks. he was amazing in Memento (possibly my fave ever film), LA confidential and prescilla queen...etc.

guy pierce, he plays a small role in one hour photo doesnt he? and yea he's decent enough.

i dunno about hanks. i agree that he does seem to play samey roles. but not always, he CAN act differently. i think in films such as appollo 13 and road to perdition he was required to act fairly... normally. but look at something like the green mile. i think he's decent in that, quite a different charecter.

but think about spacey, the serial killer in 7 could for all i know be the guy in american beauty 5 years later, thats how samey his chars seem to be. i cant see any fundimental difference in those two charecters, or even his alien char in k-pax. they're all the same, they're all just him... reading out lines. he reads the lines well, but he doesnt bring anything to the roles.

one guy, that i think is gonna be a huge actor in the future is barry pepper, the sniper guy in saving private ryan, he's in 25th hour, and dam he's amazing in it. he hasnt yet been given a big role to show off his acting talents in (always seems to be cast in army type roles), but in this.. playing a ruthless stock markety type bloke, he's brilliant. really great acting from him. obviously he wouldnt be in the top 100 yet tho, he hasnt been the star of a film yet. but when he is i think he'll get decent feedback.

disagree...strongly...using youre example. jon doe (7) and the dude in American beauty (forget name) main thing, did u belive the characther? when he was beratting brad pitt in 7 did u see in his eyes that he might be capable of commiting those crimes..i did, and alot of others did 2. in american beauty, would u say his portrayal of a mid life crisis was accurate? hard to say as everyone goes thru them in a diffrent way. did u belive that his char was going thru 1 in his own individual way? absolutley (hello, "id like to thank the academy" so atleast some did)

but i fail to see any drastic changes between his charecters. as i said, i could easily see the killer in 7 being the mid life crisis guy in american beauty 5 years after it was set. but i couldnt see say, the russian terrorist in airforce one being the cop in leon in 5 years time or something. oldman plays each charecter uniquely, spacey doesnt. ok he may have slightly different querks for each role, but still its just kevin spacey, being himself in different ways.

put it this way. could you honestly say you know how gary oldman acts irl, what his personality is like? if he's slightly posh, or has a southern accent, or funny, or serious? i know i havnt got a bloody clue. but with someone like kevin spacey, i KNOW how he is in real life. he's the same as his charecters. slowly spoken, thoughtful about his words and calm. yet i've seen no more interviews with spacey than i have with oldman.

overall oldman IS a better actor, its a fact. he portrays each of his roles convinsingly and differently. ok spacey can portray roles convinsingly, but never differently. he's always got that..... kevin spacey thing about him.

oldman is a better actor, i agree. never said i didn't. but i still disagree that spacey has little range in his charachters. true, they are more subtle than oldman's, buts lets face it oldman has been in a very wide range of films and had multiple genre defying charachters to portray. spacey hasn't , and probably wont anytime soon as he is concetrating heavily on theatre work atm. But i do belive that Spacey could play any role that oldman has with equal conviction...
