Heya,

Not every day I make thread in this section but I feel I've not gotten an answer on this question. I tried to find it out myself without success.

Before the 1.82 patch there were plenty of soloers around, also there were a lesser amount of "together-we-are-strong" people looking for the "alone-I-am-strong" people. At Dun Crauchon you could actually find other likeminded people and have a fight without being disturbed.

Then 1.82 came, I made a new template and went out again. Oh how dissappointed I was. It's close to impossible to find a proper fight, and the soloers are nowhere to be seen. I don't know where they are gone and why, can't understand it either. So my simple question is;

Where and why are the soloers gone?

Call it a whine, call it whatever you want. However, it is a question.

a kill grant more RPs=its more worth to add on solofights etc. Mainreason I believe, which leads to, soloers quit or do something else ofc. Why go out and keep on trying when there is no real point in it since thats a war that cannot be won. Zerglings win in the end :)

In prosess of being extinct.

Really ain't many soloers left , althought there is no lack of people claiming they solo. Sucks :<

Like shike said, I think this patch has only encouraged people to add more on fights, making soloing even harder and more challenging.

Its pretty much impossible now, certainly alot less rewarding. Best you can hope for is to fight the zergs and blow everything to make sure you at least take someone down with you.

And the 'solo zone' thing has pretty much died now too, mostly due to irc'rs I believe, and I havent seen anybody use the old bold/renaris zones in a long time.

Personally I just try HW and DC these days and if those are crap I just give up and watch a movie.

your a caster, soloing on a chanter is like soloing on a sorc or bd.... its not soloing its just adding and killing what comes in sight..... no intresting or close drawn fights..... you either stun and nuke them down in seconds or ml9 pet them.... if that fails moc ftw as usual. If its not on your chanter then i appologise, but you are whats wrong with soloing..... stupid casters roaming when tanks are trying to have some fun intresting fights..... stick to fg fights.... solo scene doesnt involve casters

But ever since cluster the solo scene has gone far down hill, no real names you recognise anymore.... when you get added on or nuked down by some random rr10 caster you have never heard of, or added on by other high rr stealthers whos names mean nothing..... reputation used to matter quite a lot in the stealther scene, anyone who added even a little got a bad reputation, you knew most people you fought and who the hard fights where, now solo fights are so far between you dont learn peoples names, alts are so easy to make and so many people can get easymode high rr nothing means anything anymore.... and when your failing to have fun fights... theres nothing left anymore

assholes win because they seem to be the majority, all you can do is take down as many as you can with you for the good of humanity :p

I still find quite a few soloers out there. (Bloody NSs tough gits :> and melee rangers!)
The best times seem to be late afternoon and very late in the evening and slightly off the beaten path.
I don't think that much has changed tbh. Ok we are all worth more RPs, but everyone still either adds erm I mean helps their realm buddy as before, or they let you fight as before. I don't think people's principles have changed.

I do have a small feeling that FG's steamroll people a bit more though. Maybe only slightly more than before, but I think they have less mercy anyway. From stealth I've seen a lot of poor soloers get destroyed in the name of RvR, and these guys I imagine will eventually log.

So I think it's pretty much the same, but more RPs is the only difference.

i still try to recognise names, its simple in my case of being a nightshade, just two categories, the ones i can kill and the ones i should stay the fook away from :p oh and anyone with mos5 goes into the latter category too

Well you get more RPs if you kill someone in a 1vs1 aswell. So actually it's not worth adding more nowdays than what it was pre rp-patch, it's just the same.

That is was really annoys me, people claim that adding was encouraged with the rp-patch, well yes, but not because of the patch itself but because they were saying so :) And because some people believed in that they would get more RPs if they played by the "together-we-are-strong" rules. The fact is that you don't get more RPs if adding/zerging instead of soloing now in the 1.82 patch, than you did adding/zerging pre-1.82 instead of soloing, the difference between adding/zerging and soloing remains the same in both pre and post patch 1.82. I hope you see my point.

Another thing is the response to the highered amount of "together-we-are-strong" population by the soloers. There is none, most soloers seem to either: A) Give up, going inactive with their toon OR B) Join the "others". And this makes me sad. Compare this situation with with a political situation; There is a majority and a minority, as a member of the minority you don't agree with the other part so what you do? You create an opposition, you don't give up, you don't join them. You show them you think that way and are not going to give up even though you know you have close to zero chances to become the majority.

And that exactly what I'm going to do.

Imho, soloing has been dying since NF was released. OF was much better suited for soloing because it had: 1) lots of travellers and 2) specific areas for RvR (emain/odins/hadrians).

NF has very few travellers. Sure a lot of people travel around, but you have no way of knowing where they come from and where they are going, which makes it pretty damn hard to intercept them. Also, there are too many places to go in NF, which is actually a bad thing for soloers, because it reduces the chances of finding another soloer.

NF lacks destinations (to get players out in the open). Passage of Conflict used to be a "destination" for soloers. Sure, it wasn't the ideal way to promote soloing, but in any case, the death of PoC was another nail in the coffin for soloing.

I actually think you can compare soloing to "full groups in Agramon". Once all the soloers and small groups stopped going to Agramon, the area died out because there was no bait for the full groups. I belive there are many many players who would like to solo in this game, but who hesitate, because it is too difficult to find other soloers, which results in a downward spiral effect. The same goes for 8vs8.

The soloers got outzerged and stopped playing, not hard to figure out really.

I think it's a chain effect. There are many causes, some start stealth zerging because they're greedy since the RP patch, some play caster alts when its zergy because of the easy RPs or because they find it fun, and then the others like myself who used to enjoy solo just get bored of the lack of fights and start playing alts instead mainly, so the solo pool decreases further and further. I still solo my minstrel occasionally, for me it's not adds that are an issue, but simply the lack of variety. The last few times I've gone out its been the same the few people again and again, it's nice to fight someone two or three times in one session but after that it just gets boring.

Also I don't find many stealthers are willing to attack these days, I hang around bridges right near where I know there are stealthers (by twisting stealth with speed) and /beckon, most of the time the stealther will just leave. There are quite a few good or high RR ones who can generally own me and these will attack consistently, but the great majority of non high RR and the crap high RR, seem to avoid jumping anything but casters and scouts. Many now seem to be only after the easy RPs, which doesn't make them much different to a fire wizard in a zerg imo. Soloing as a meleer is about the challenge imo, not the RPs.

So for me and many others I think, it's simply that soloing has become dull and we'd much rather play a group class and have fun consistently, than spend half an hour of no action, or constantly being added on, just for the rare enjoyable 1v1. I do pity any stealthers without a groupable alt.

I still try and solo but only in a couple of places where I know it's not as busy. I've had some fairly decent fights recently.

It got too tedious trying todo so. I.E Albs would add on you, for absolutely no reason, no respect amongst realm-mates.

you have always done that since ML's got implemented havent you?

Of cause, if I get zerged I will do everything I can to make sure I take at least 1 of the bastards down with me. I'd rather blow timers to survive then blow timers to escape and run away like most assassins, and most the time when I die its because i've tried to be frugal with my abilities and save them.

Well it wasnt as if there was many that really soloed before the patch, now its just abit less. Guy worth 1k RP give adder 200k before patch, guy after patch gives 400 RPs = more RPs for the adder = more prone to add, was the logic behind my statement. You get more RPs nomatter what you do but adding now is worth more than before, 1vs1 is worth more too but... free big bunch of fat juicy RPs = more tempting.

And, I gave up, it wasnt fun, I was feeding zerging twats RPs, theres no point in that. I play for fun and if it isnt, I dont do it. Simple as that. You go be a noble person if you want to, nobody's stopping you :) I soloed from rr0 to 6L4 and gave up after that since things only went from bad to worse to dreadful.

well, as a visible soloer you should expect being zerged tbh, it's not honourless to gangbang a soloer, and me being at the recieving end of the gangbang most of the time, i still think that.

soloers will come, soloers will go and the zerg will stay forever, DAoC wasnt made for soloing and fair fight, it's all about realm wars, siege fights and relics.
when people start making unwritten "rules" those rules will allways be ignored by the majority of the population.

I do understand why ppl want 1 on 1 or 8 vs 8 fights, i want it myself.
but i don't understand how people expect being left alone by enemies so they can have their fun.
if soloers had their way and every duo+ left them alone there would be days filled with /bow and /beckon and a uninteresting fight that the heaviest tank with the best ML and RA's for soloing won over and over and over.
sounds alot like /duel challenge to me.

DAoC is a wargame to me, where unexpected adds are a pain but a part of the battle.

Speaking for myself, i solo 90% of my online time, i have stealth zerged, zerged and duo'ed, but since im not shouting on every forum that i do solo im quite sure that if anyone know my name they think of me as a zerger.
i've been called zerger in threads before, becos if you zerg once you are allways a zerger in some ppl's mind.

a final word to those stealthers who claim to allways solo but i and others have seen duo/trio and even zerging last few months, practice what you preach!
after all the fine words about honour, fairness and whatnot over the years there is no excuse viable to stop soloing now tbh.

Hmm, I'm afraid this doesn't make any sence to me. So because the amount of RP you need to gain a realm rank is the same, it's worth adding? Explain please :)

Well that free big bunch of fat juicy RPs was as big (compared to soloing) pre-1.82 also, no change there at all.

If only one person knew that, it would definately be kagato.

i think there are very few soloers in the regard that they 100% stay on one alt since they started that game:p maybe 2..dunno lol...but playing same character and nothing else and only solo all the time for several years would get lonesome:)
I mostly solo on solamnus but play other characters as well..and when someone in guild wanna team up and duo or make a gg i do that. im not playing the game for anyone elses enjoyment in the end. I logg on and do whatever i feel like. I do however enjoy the soloing with solamnus imensly and hope to continue doing so.
I tend to find a few solo fights every evening, and im quite happy with that...and even if i get 2 or 3 on me im usually happy if i get one or maybe 2 down:)
So yeah...finding a "real" soloer is prolly impossible:p
over and out..
