tbh imo there is no difinitive "greatest" footballer as such, However there is a best footballer for their time/era. For instance if the players of today went back and played in pele's time they would pretty much make em look like school boys. I'm not disbuting that pele and such weren't good, they were the best in their era and helped to move football onto what it is now. Just my 2 cents.

you take someone from back in the day and bring them now true they would sturggle a bit to adapet to the game,
but its the same if you was to send say Ronaldinho back.
the game back them was more pyhiscal and you could knock people over and hack them down more than now,was a harder played game.
as today the balls lighter better deisged same as the boots and the playing fields.
come on you seen top team say they didnt get the result cos the pacth was bad and so on.
but its the same to be said to lets say Best,he knew if he got that defend to make the last tackle he was through on goal,just teas them a bit and they dive in.
nowadays defender stay on there feet more shepard them away befor thinking of diving in (ok maybe not Philip Neville for engalnd).

to say one players better than another hard cos of the years they played and every one got a oppion end of the day and hey "its a funny old game"

I agree with you here it used to be a far more physical game but now its much quicker. Its hard to tell if the old players would be so effective in todays game where defenders are like sprinters. Like i siad Old player Maradona is the best. Modern is Henry he produces alot more for his brilliance he has scored 2 and set up 5? this week. IMO of course
