Not neccesarily - old method was knotting but too much scarring and hard to reverse.

Then they went to clips - easier to reverse but still some scarring.

Now they seem to favour snipping it but leaving it untied -you get all these weird cysts but less pain apparently.

Gets you a higher rate of prostate and testicular cancer statistically but very noble I'm sure...
