me and my dad often played games through the network together and his friend told him about DAoC and he told me about it. So we started on the beta, tbh I didn't really like the game that much but played it anyways for a while with my 'all-rounder' sorc 
then when release came round, I rolled my sorc again and my dad (hinanthesecond) had his friar ...only after a while did we discover the bloke who told us about the game rolled on prydwen but we couldn't b arsed to reroll. In the end I rolled a cleric, tbh I have no idea whatsoever why. Ended up enjoying the game until about a month ago and have now quit

Why did you pick your first ever class/character/realm
Well, for a start, if by here you mean playing DAoC im not. A friend is playing Sprout while I play SWG. The way i started however was because I had put a lot of faith into AC2, only to have it go and be shite on me. It was this or AO, and this looked more like Asherons Call 1, so i chose this.
IRL i write and repair automation software, alough im thinking of trying something totally different.
I picked my first class, a berzerker, because once I was round my brothers house while he played. This enormous rock bloke ran up and cut him to shreds with a pair of cleavers. Ten minutes later another guy wearing cool robes beat the shit out of him with a club. When i started, it had to be one of the them. I rolled a berzerker called Redknapp, my name in online games for 4 years now. While running round my starter town, I saw another guy buffing healing and being uber. I asked what it was, found out it was a Shaman, and made one, only to find out later that what I really wanted was a Friar, and was in another realm.
Stuck with Sprout the Shammy, and had a blast.

im a dixie worker!!!1111111 i make 500+ hamburgers each night!111forthewin
In daoc beta i was troll 2h axe zerker.
when daoc was released i rolled thane coz i once saw a lvl 20 thane mjöllnir whole tomte camp oneshotting alot of mobs i wanted to be like that i thought and so i rolled my first gimp.
After mjöllnirspamming on amg for a few months i rolled Karate LurikeenMAMMA Troll female zerker for the win, and now he will become gimp aswell, my 2nd gimp.
My m8 nalle puh had a sb and it was cool watching him get ganked in emain so i rolled one aswell, my third gimp.

I was originally introduced to DAOC and the whole MMORPG by a RL friend.
Also, I have moved away from most of my friends to a foreign country and can't play P&P RPGs anymore, which I love, so this is the next best thing.
What do you do?

Why did you pick your first ever class/character/realm

Mostly coz i liked to run Healers in my old Rolemaster days.
Also I had heard that Clerics weren't a very popular class to run in Albion, so I thought it would be clever to fill the void.
I chose Albion, because I've always liked Arthurian themes (even though there's many "views" as to what an Arthurian theme ought to be , most are wrong including the DAOC one) above Viking themes and the Hib theme is only vaguely Celtic really, otherwise I might have chosen that.

God i forgot all about Mir - played it for about a week , liked the idea but the game sucked - never played MMORPG's before - had done some D&D and ShadowRun roleplaying years ago...
Tried some online poo games looking for something to take me interest and saw this in a magazine (i think) and not looked back !
Also hooked a friend into the dreaded addiction as well - apologies to Eggster/Egg !
Rolled a Pala (gimped) and after 8 lvls changed to a Sorc as i didnt realise the potential for grping etc and thought with i pet i could solo to 50 easy (ok stop laughing now)
Still here, given up on Sorc after 42 lvls (those pets dont half nick me exp) and now can be seen under the guise of a Minstrel - the best char i have ever tried tbh...
So i am gonna solo him to 50 instead ! (only joooking) gonna go afk for about 45 levels and let some of you guys level him

Aoami I apologise , it may well have been my expectations etc but going mining in tombs for money and killing mobs wasnt my idea of fun.............. (omg its the original DF) ! nah to be fair it was ok but when you compare it to DAOC it does suck a bit you gotta be honest... the graphics are straight outta the super nintendo league .. gameplay wasnt bad but lets be honest - who here cares about personality when what you are looking at is a minger (especially when you are paying for it )!

A clanmate got daoc and started a nightshade on hib/pryd. He told me that the realm was short of druids and so Revor TheDruid was born. Played the game too much, quit cos of addiction, deleted revor - then saw clanmate 2 months ago and he got me to resub and join albion/excal - got a pally on there now
