Which Mouse is best for Q3?

I`ve been using the MS Explorer for a long time ,when someone recommended the boomslang 2000. I decided to take the plunge and buy one at a cost of £70. The difference in accuracy was immediately noticable ,but i found it very uncomfortable to use and after 2 weeks, one of the rollers packed up and i have had to send it back.

I`m now using my old Explorer mouse again and i`m very happy with it .When i get a replacement boomslang i`m not sure whether i`m going to use it yet .

We`ll see.

Ooh, this thread's back :D

Question: Can anybody actually make use of the wheel on the Boomslang ? When I tried it it wasn't comfortable if I held it so that I could reach the wheel. Do I have a deformed hand or is this common ??

I didn't like the boomslanger, my m8 has 1 and i didn't like it 1 bit, I got my intellimouse for christmas and it is sweet :)

Don't think i will ever go back to ball mice again.

My IntelliMouse Optical is great. :) No more sudden hiccups in the middle of games because some fluff has got into the rollers. I tried the large silvery grey one but I didn't like the slope on the right hand side because it didn't give me enough grip, so I replaced it with the smaller (and cheaper) white one which I find much more comfortable to use. The smaller one is also symmetrical in shape so it's equally suitable for right or left hand.

Both have 5 buttons and the obligatory wheel. The only drawback I find is that it's too easy to accidentally press one of the extra buttons on the sides of the mouse so I turned it off. I find four buttons plus the wheel is enough for me anyway.

lo

got a LOGITECH mouseman wheel optical

very accurate, very smooth, and doesnt loose tracking hardly at all, less than my olld logi mouseman balle one where i would slip if u tried turning to fast

as far as i know people have more tracking problems with MS ones than the logtech, the sensor is supposed to be slightly better in the logi i think. Oh, and it glows a eery light blue.

How Did you Define The Thumb Buttons

I got the right Driver for the Explore Intellieye mouse, at least i belive so. They got all the buttons defined, but quake doesnt seem to see them. How do i define big thumb button and small thumb button? If i knew what they were called i would do it manual.

m8, what u do is define the buttons to some key on the keyboard using the intellipoint software. I have mine set to Pgup & PgDn. Then in quake3 to bind something to one or the other you simply go

bind pgdn "+zoom" for example

Its ezy pzy m8 :D

The most recent MS explorer optical is even better now since they put a more powerful processor in it.

Yeah, I replaced my fairly new ms intelli optical with one of the new ms intelli optical with the 33% better optics or summin. Spent £40 and im not sure I saw the difference or not tbh.
The one thing which made a big difference for me was the surface I use. I started with just the desk and it seemed fine, but then I tried a mat and it seemed better, so I ordered an everglide giganta and I have to say the optical mouse and the giganta surface make for very fine accuracy.
If I could just get my sensitivity sorted after the damn q3 'g' patch, i'd be laughing! :)
I recommend the ms opticals.

Intellimouse Explorer Plus (the silver one) rocks, you have to get used to it, casue its sensitive, but for playing quake and cs i have found none better. By the way i have not had a problem witht he thumb buttons even with intelli point 3.0, just leave them set to the default settings (browser back and browser forward), then in game go to settings and just press the thumb buttons for the function u want them to perform, it may come u with an alt+key combination on screen but it will work. Could never go back to normal mice, too much cleaning, not enough buttons

i can't get the thumb buttons to work individually
i can only assign one function to both keys
not one to each :/

I had problems too. Heres my advice, plug the darn thing into the USB port and try again. The extra buttons do not seem to work when the mouse is pluged into the PS/2 port.

There ya go, thats all.

The other day at a lil lan party i hosted, one of me m8s woz using a ms intelli explorer optical, and when i tried it it felt awful coz of the refresh rate on it.

He woz using it in a ps2 port when he could of been using it on usb, since for some reason his usb didn't work he had to use ps2 so i tried to up the rate using ps2rate but it didn't detect the mouse, after forcing it to up the rate there was no difference after it had changed, was still tracking badly.

After 5 mins faffing with his bios and installing some drivers i got his usb working, slapped in the mouse and woz relaly nice n smooth.

Unfortunately, i don't have USB @ all neither do i have any mobo headers for them... atm (until i get an upgrade). Me need a new mouse, Logi Mouseman optical or MS Intellieye explorer, i would like to know if either would work with ps2rate? ch33rs!

And how many buttons does the logi optical mouse have? the blue butted one?

I have my IntelliMouse Optical plugged into the PS2 port and have no problems whatsoever with configuring the five buttons individually or the sensitivity (except patch 1.27g made things too sensitive and I had to configure it all over again).

I use an MS IE + Everglide Giganta
Perfect combo imo, and even better value for money now you can get the pads in blighty.

I've used a mates BS 2k, admittedly for about 3 or 4 hours total, but found it uncomfortable for the sake of it, I mean, can anyone actually use that ikkle finger button?!?

I use a MS Intellimouse w/ Intellieye. I overclocked it so I can blind people with the laser. I have to use an asbestos mouse mat or the desk gets fried :/. Quake 3 is still shit with it tho. Tried an explorer, q3 was still shit. Tried a boomslang, quake 3 was still shit. I came to the conclusion that quake 3 was shit.

Enough of that.
Back to Tekken Tag.
