Somewhat shocked by the result really. I thought Holland would have gone on to win the tournament, nevermind beating Russia.

Holland hardly had any offense from what i seen, everytime i looked at the TV Russia where blitzing shots over at Van der Sar.

The referee looked to be amazing though. Dont think i have ever seen someone actually reverse a sending off before. No doubt its happened but still! If only other refs would do that

Italy are my team and i'm sad to see them go, but I also think they didn't deserve to win because they've been crap since day one. As much as I wanted them to win, it would have been a shame for Spain to go because they are the better team and I just knew that Italy would be sneaky and hold out for penalties. I had a sneaking suspicion earlier in this thread that they'd get to the final on penalty shoot outs.

Xavi is a better player for what Luis wants in the team. Xavi is a better technical player than Cesc at the moment but I'm pretty sure that in a few years he'll be surpassed.

He was played as the link man in midfield yesterday. Not so much 'off the striker' like say Rooney/Raul play but more of a Valeron of a few years ago.

Congrats Spain. Thoroughly deserved. I think that's the first time I've ever picked a side before the start of a tournament that's gone on to win it!

God I hate seeing Platini on telly though, great player, but fat oily French fuckhead now; although I guess he's just thrown the English a bone by announcing they're increasing the Euros to 24 teams! What a stupid idea and the quality of this tournament shows that.

I would also like to echo what DaG said, jesus christ I hate Platini so very much. The greasy wank stain has even got involved in the Ronaldo bullshit encouraging him to join Real not that I care where he goes but what the fuck has it got to do with Platini.

Spain has excellent players on every position plus strong bench, and that was the key.

Great defence, midfield is one of the best known (Senna-Silva-Xavi-Iniesta-Fabregas) and although I respect David Villa's abilities, Torres was simply the best forward of the Championship.

They've totally deserved this success.
