Yeah bit silly this year. groups A+B play each other in quarters and semis, as do C+D. wierd rule change for this year, means you can meet your group opponents in the semis.

Can anyone clarify what would happen in the group of death if France and Italy got a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, and Holland beat Romania by 3 goals? It would put Romania, Italy and France on two points, all would have lost to Holland by equal goals, and results against each other would all be draws, they would all have equal goal difference.

Well, I think we've just witnessed possibly the best game of the entire tournament in Turkey vs Czech Republic. What an absolutely incredible ending, 2 goals, a keeper sent off, a terrible keeping mistake from "the worlds best keeper", unbelievable!

A good ending to a terrible game. The first 60 minutes were a serious snooze fest. Literally nearly fell asleep in the first half, Turkey were abysmal. That switched around, and the Czechs were terrible in the second half. Best game so far was Holland v France - very open, end to end football with a lot of good chances, lots of high quality goals, and French misery for Domenech - it doesn't get much better than that.

Not enough of the French team tried to win, they played a lot better with 10 men, but that may be more to do with Italy not trying at all after going 1 up. The Spanish will hopefully sort the Italians out.

Was it me, or were the Italians just garbage, with the only fact that the French were TOTAL garbage that allowed the Italians through? Usual shit with the Italians though, coupe of goals up and then farting around; none of the attacking spirit like the Dutch.

The Italians are always my team, but they've been rubbish for me this competition - and Gaff could be right, they'll go on to win it by some bizarre fluke, probably forcing 0 - 0 draws and winning every time on Penalties.

Yes the Italians have played crap, they have not been all out defensive, they have not attacked. They have just been, meh. They pass the ball around without taking much of a risk, do not take players on and now and again punt it forward. It's almost worse than Greece, at least you know what you are going to get with them.

You say that, but if Luca Toni had his shooting boots on, or if they'd played the ball into Cassano or Del Piero's feet, Italy would easily have had about the best goal difference in the tournament. If the referee had allowed the one goal Toni scored to stand (as he admitted he should have) they would have been easily through the group of death. I still think they're looking ominous, although I'd still say the Dutch were favourites.

Toni got himself into good positions, but his finishing was woeful, I thought someone had replaced him with Andy Cole the amount of chances he squandered. He also seemed to be really unfit.

I dont think croatia are that good, fairly solid though.
