Yeah you do.. If you can answer me how big it is?

it's infinite as it is always expanding,

my answer would be pie as it is more proven :)

The known universe is about 13billion light years across, next biggest thing I can think of is VY Canis Majoris, which is the largest known star.

the multi-verse. should string theory ever be proven, it proves it is possible to have multiple universes next to each other. i tend to think of it like an orange where a universe is a segment, which makes up only a portion of something greater.

depends on your definition of universe, the universe is a abstact concept of everything that physically exists. So as a result you can't have mutiple universe's as the universe includes everything

not clear on your reasoning on that could 2 of me exsist in the same universe?

i wouldnt classify a universe i couldnt enter as being part of our universe like you say depends on how you want to define a universe.

its an area of infinite space and time with all the relevant laws with the variables appropriate for it. i reckon. hawking and co were saying stars formed originally because of the nature of that area of space time. or that the 'environment' there would support a star forming. i wonder how was it decided that that area of space time should support a star?

back on track. size is relevant so its hard to say. id go for the universe too as relatively speaking nothing is bigger than it.

See that is the thing about the universe I cannot understand.

Before the universe there was nothing. Then a bang happened. The bang happened inside something, what is that?

If the universe is expanding then it is expanding into something surely, this means that before the universe there was already something there?

go crazy trying to figure that one out deebs, the area outside space is just, well giving it a word gives it substance and it doesnt have any.
maybe its the remnants of a previous universe thats devoid of matter and we are simply filling the space. that question is likely to remain unanswered at least in our lifetime.

on a side note its unlikely we will ever be able to see the edge of the universe as its been expanding for over 13billion years at incredible speeds possibly the speed of light

personally i believe the blackness was there in the first place and its just endless the stars simply came about from the big bang what caused it who knows :)

If it has no substance how can you fill it? There has to something there to fill up be it empty matter, the inside of my pants or god forbid Jordan's bra.

well if its endless you can never fill it, it will just keep expanding forever or till entropy occurs

theres no such thing as empty matter its a contradiction of its self space is simply devoid of anything matter time particles its a null zone.

nothing, nothing exists there because the universe is defined as something physical being there, the lack of being the space it is expanding into
Edit: as chipper says :)
However to confuse you, the other theory is that the universe itself is stretching rather than expanding into something. Similar to a rubber band it has finite contents which are simply stretching so they appear to be further away but in reality the size of the universe doesnt change at all as it is infinite (e.g. say you start on the scale 1,2,3,4 up to infinity for points in the universe, stretchign forces you to multiply by 2 instead you have to use 2,4,6,8 up to infinity, as both results are up to inifinity they can be assumed to be the same)

And for that reason (@chipper) i asked what your definition of the universe is, as it is used as a abstract concept in many difference scenario's
But when i say the universe i mean it as its all encompassing definition, the universe is everything including (if they exist) other planes of existence as at the end of the day they are still within the same overall universe just in a different phase

Define nothing then, in my eyes it means it does NOT exist.

im suprise nobody has said; 'my e-peen' yet.

hmm

what is the biggest..

there no such thing, as the biggest is built out of small parts.

anyway:

troll > tall
HO > tall
Avalonian > tall
Firb > tall

ok lets try this a different way

Imagine cookie dough, put all your rasins in the middle
Now you roll the dough so that the rasins spread out, but the dough itself has the same volume.
Pretend one of the rasins are our galaxy, this is essentially what the stretching theory is, the size of the universe is finite but its contents are stretching apart

I am sure someone here can explain things better than myself, but thats how i understand it to be

Bear in mind this is one theory there are loads more

And on that note, food time
