I've actually played D&D/AD&D type stuff, but I had more or less the same prob you had [with the 'types playing it aiiii]
Either I was too wierd...or they were
Don't tend to like anything too geeky like fantasy or sci-fi although i picked up a free copy of dune with the latest game the other day and it's actually a pretty good read. i just daren't tell anyone or they'll assume i'm about to stop bathing
Personally I don't like fantasy stuff. It seems to me that the writers just make it up on the fly, throwing in some magic spell to explain something that they can't be arsed to work through.
The villager was edgy, the whistle of the wind and the brush of the trees made him nervous. Trying hard not to get lost in the darkend forest the lone villager looked around him to get his bearings. "kaboom" a huge coffee cup appeared before him, 15 feet tall and 8 feet in diameter with Arthur Anderson written on the side.
"mmm" he thought, "that handle must be pointing the way home"
read LotR
_real_ fantasy, not the crap that gets churned out by fools
btw, read 'The Hobbit' first tho it classes more as a 'child's story' [imho] and is written in a totally different style from LotR.
just to break the ice hehe
