The elite grps are somewhat nice to be part of since i rarely rvr, but random grps gotta be the most funniest. I remember a few days ago i went outside Svasud. Was some trouble there with some stealthers...as always.
Joined a grp...2 warrior, 2 thanes, 1 mend healer, 1 pbt runie, 1 bd and 1 berz. Now...this grp had no kind of CC except the little slam us warriors could punch out. We came across some albs...was mostly a caster grp and we got the advantage of getting the first blows on em from behind. Thanes started to AE so the poor sorcs never was able to mezz. Pwned alb grp.
Of course this is huge luck, but its merely quite funny to kill without being reliable on CC.

and i think if i try to explain why i find it funny if some1 like to tell me to go die RL i will sound patronising...
all i can say is try to understand other view points on this game...
maybee im just to old to play or read boards i dunno
anyway .... hf with your special made groups...
and let other ppl have fun with their not so fotm groups etc..

its not funny telling someone to die irl over a game, but its stupid to laugh about it on /as.
As for me making my fotm grps, my grp setupts have been the same for over year, tis hardly fotm

remove the eliteness that has come to rule daoc, and all would be well.
I love playing with my friends, and i hate playing with ppl that cant do shit, but the reason I hate that is because everyone is being so elite that there is no room for a noob that doesnt know his stuff.
I hate the fact that there is a single best type of groupsetup(more or less), its so fucking inane and dull.
i'd love to be able to play in a group that isnt 3/2 healers, 1 shammy, 1 skald, 3/4 tanks and not rely on high rr/skill to have a chance.
But unfortunately, like every other online game i've played, the eliteness has taken over. Its not that bad for me, I have a decent toon and some skill and much time to play/make a new char.
How bout those that cant play more then 2hrs every other day, and finally after about a year irl of playing have reached 50 with their <insert non-det-random-non-"essential"-class here>
Stuck at a fucking tk or doomed to random noob groups that are bound to be slaughtered by l33t "professional" groups. How's that for fun?

That said, uberification is an inevitable if (un)desired process in any online game, and though i've had great fun in pre-set uber groups in all the games i've played online (quake, qtf, q2,ut, hl, cs, q3, ut2k4 and daoc) It hurts the average player alot, so the next time your sitting on your ass trying to assemble the perfect group, or pling your fotm-char, think of the time you wont have the time to be a leet player, think of the inevitable time when you become an average player. Wouldnt you love to stand a chance? wouldnt you love to be able to get a group straight up and go out and actually not get steamrolled and wtfpwned by super-1337-ninja-geeks-from-hell?
This is how I see it, but unfortunately I cant start taking in thanes and rm's and sm's in groups, because then my group will become fodder because of all the other pre-set gank-groups that are out there. Its a vicious circle, and tbh I dont see a way out thats half-way realistic...

DAOC was a quite uniqe game in my opinion. It was the first mmorpg(atleast that I know of) which took a step towards the fps scene. With time I believe rvr.. or the fps part of the game has become more and more important. A casual player who plays a game, be it cs, quake or any other fps generally doesn't stand a chance against the hardcore players. So what does he do? He changes to another server where other casual players play. This isn't possible in daoc, and therefor leads to a lot of whine between the casual (mmorpg'ers) and fps ppl.
Maybe mythic is to blame for this.. maybe not. Imo a game constructed like this one could'nt turn out any other way.
To me DAOC was a mmorpg in the beginning.. Nowadays its just another fps game where you can't avoid competing with hardcore gamers and where a lot of chars are useless in rvr. So putting the odd White Knight - Green Queen zerg/"roleplaying" aside, this is to me a fps game where you can either roll a fotm char.. get on ts/ventrilo/rw.. put a balanced fg together and kick some ass... or go as a mixed group, expect to die alot and maybe.. just maybe have some fun.

I have been playing this game since release too, and I remember back in the old good days when SC armor wasn't invented and level 50 was a luxery.
"Wow! my group have 4 lvl 50 in it! We will own everything!!!"

Even realm nrs and people don't need to make THE LEET FG everytime, like the old days. We didn't need all classes or specific groups to win some battle it was all about playing smart. Now you gotta play BEST OF THE BEST to win some battles. And because we albs have so many most just don't bother with making the uber group and just wanna get some rps by simple zerging.
So even the numbers in the realms and all people can enjoy the game more....
And I totally agree on Arnor there (although he doesn't like me).

Everyone is able to, but while you wait for 2 hours for that perfect group, random group has made several runs already.
Trying (even if failing) with random group is more fun than sitting at DL with nothing to do.

Mytix should add special zones in the RvR-expansion, zones that can take max one fg from every realm, zones that only take people in rr 1-3, 4-6, 7-
And above all; zones where people can solo without stealth.
Stuff like that.

tyka you call someone a mong cos they don't play 6 hours per day with leet grp, come on invite some of these rr1 lvl guys into your grps. show them the best way of doing it rather than "fook of you noob" people learn by making mistakes what do you do kick them "bye" ? i have and some great groups recentley where we have had just 6 in the grp we won 2 battles got wipped 5 times so what we got wipped what difference does it make all meet up in dl 3 mins later run out again its a game cos its fun think you are living the game rather than playing

I don't even know where i can see my post count.
But you don't seem to get that this thread is not about you. Maybe you don't do it, but some do. So don't take everything personally and try to see the big picture for once.
For example i play an echantment specced chanter and i'm low RR, so how can i get groups when i'm not needed? There's a group waiting in DL to find a Druid for a long time, so don't u agree it would be more fun to actually do something with that time?

prolly best to make your own group then and go to HW as the competition is slightly less hard there
(less people worrying about getting close to perfect setup). As Tyka prolly said you dont have to rely on others to start to change something, but going into emain as only one with a less than perfect group (and without a zerg) will usually lead to a certain death

hmm i think i made my post very clear, sitting at dl just to wait for a perfect group is not what i prefer, but just because i like to go to emain with a balanced group does not mean that i disagree with original poster either..
to sum it up i think ppl who whine (jaapi) because they have a worthless class and are lazy ****s who can talk big talk on forums and not getting groups at dl deserve it, if you want a group set it up yourself and dont whine on others for waiting for the perfect group setup, some ppl do that and u have to live with it ok ?
