I for one believe it's common decency to offer your co-workers some refreshments on a hard day of work.

Especially in ireland i believe that would go down well at the office watering well.

We don't drink IN work although we may be known to leave work early to go to the bar (early = lunchtime)...

you go early home from work and go to a bar (lunchtime), you take a few beers... you go home to bed and wake up... and ofcourse when you wake up.. it feels like the titans themself is throwing lightning on/in your head..

Actually now I come to think of it, I was in Norway the very first time I ever got really drunk... My hosts dad made some homemade wine... I must have passed out at some stage as well cuz apparently (or so my friends told me the next day) some strange Norwegain guy who had been following me about all night put me to bed!

I also wouldn't recommend relying on drinking to make friends... What are you gonna do when you start a job and have to get to know everyone there? You certainly can't be carrying that hip flask of vodka round with you all day... Imo better to get to know people when sober and then drink with them later

hehe. I am not saying that people HAVE to drink every time they are going to talk to/meet new people. Just saying that at the age of 14-18 drinking with others is a good way to get to know them better.

I can meet new people when not affected by alcohol, but some of the friends I have today, i have met at parties and other alcohol related encounters

Agree, some norwegians cant drink at all. I know of a lot of people who just cant drink the way normal people do. And it realy dosnt look good on TV when u see all those totaly drunk norwegian people in Spain, the greek islands and other holliday places. The norwegians have a terrible rep in holliday places.

(going to Rhodes myself in 3 days with a couple of friends, i hope we will show them that some norwegians can drink with manners )
