Problems are relative.
When you're 7, losing your pocket money is a huge problem, you're fucked.
When you're 9, accidentally wetting yourself in school worries you immensely.
When you're 14, spots worry the hell out of you, how can life get worse?!?!
When you're 16, exam grades are a real problem.
When you're 18, losing your first love can be so depressing - life sucks etc...
When you're 21, getting a 2:2 instead of a 2:1 hurts like hell...
etc etc
Problems are problems - the severity depends on your personal situation, how old you are, what your experience is.
Hurting hurts the same at any age.

Life is like a woman, sometimes it's the greatest thing ever, some times she is a bitch. If she kicks you in the balls... don't break down in self pity. Jump up, grab her hair and fuck her over the kitchen counter.

alcohol depresses (turns off) higher brain functions. the more you drink, the more of your brain is turned off until the alcohol is metabolised. it is why people become less inhibited after a few drinks. it does not make you depressed.
if you think Freud's psychoanalytic perspective, the 'superego' (conscience) and 'ego' (social constraint) get turned off by drinking alcohol. leaving only the 'id' or the pleasure seeking part of our being.
however drinking is not a healthy way to solve problems though and i do not condone people that drink to "shut out the pain".
depressants do not cause depression.Bugz said:Drunk when depressed will lead to continous drinking = depression in simplier terms...

I mean those who don't do anything about it. Just in my mind at the age of 18(insert any countries drinking age if you want since it's the MANHOOD!!! age) you should try to get on with your life.
If you can't, like being sick, having to take care of parents etc, then it's different, but if you're just freeloading of your parents, i have no respect for any sort of "difficulties".
It's a bit of a different subject really i guess...

snushanen said:yes it is. drinking alone is a habbit i avoid. You are still pretty yong but dont worry, parties will come very quickly. and then drink in a good way. You dont whant to turn out like a guy did on the party i was at earlier today, a guy who puked 3 hours.
