the way i see it -

religion is by choice, no matter what you say. you choose to be religious or you choose not to be, no one forces you in anyway at all. if someone is choosing something, i believe personally you can mock that all you want. its a choice in the end, so accept that people will have an opinion.

on the other hand, you do not choose to be born as a pakistani or a nigerian. there is no choice, and i believe where there is no choice you shouldnt mock it.

As far as I can remember, the Taliban was actually installed by a certain government, though ofc I'm not really clued in because the whole thing bores me.

Also, I never said the Empire was a good thing or a bad thing at all. In that essence, you may paint the Spanish, Portuguese, French and just about everyone all the way back to Alexander black as satan's waistcoat making the point moot imo. If I remember my history, most of the current problems in the world stem from us chaps fucking up towards the end of the second world war, and most of the problems in Africa stem from us fucking up a couple hundred years before that.
