What song would you have played at your funeral?

A morbid question maybe but when you die what song do you want played at your funeral? And for what purpose? Myself I would probably go with:

Opeth - Still Day Beneath The Sun

A song obviously about mourning, but I sense hope in it so it's probably not too depressing.

There's alot of other songs I could imagine, like the Johnny Cash version of Hurt, Metallicas fade to black and many others. So what will be the soundtrack of your exit?

Oh btw this has been done on the old BW forums :p

Actually I copied it from a swedish "underground" forum but need something to use in my quest to keep this part of the forum active.

World peace song is a good choice at a funeral I guess. :D

I'd have a song that makes people laugh, while they're wearing hawiian shirts to me funeral, none of this black tie crap, just because i'd be dead and gone doesn't mean they should mourn it, much prefer people to have a good time than mope about hugging each other and crying about the things that could have been.

That said, would probably have November Rain, which isn't a laughy type song, but it's long, and would get people to shift about on the pews a bit while they waited for it to finish :p

That and it's one of my favourite songs. Oh, and Don't Cry on the way out, quite apt i guess, because quite simply, I don't want people sobbing at said funeral.

They can play the cheeky girls for all I care. There isn't a single song that I know of that can suitable describe me or my life. I am individual and I'll be dead so I really couldn't care less.

Songs are played at funerals for the mourners anyway, not the deceased. So they can choose the song that reminds them of me.

That was actually the song that the most people on the forum I nicked the thread from said they wanted. And why not? :)

My father said he wanted The doors: when the music's over.

I think mine will be the doors: the end.

Fear Factory - Resurrection.

Not from an optimistic point of view, but I love the song and it always leaves me feeling up-beat :)

Probably Who Wants the World by The Stranglers...

or Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson.

The old granny might collapse if she had to stand up that long!

I would have the theme from "Firefly" played at mine. I love that song so much and it would be suitable in tone and lyrics etc for the occasion.

Unless I died in a plane crash or something.

Lesbians by Nuclear Assault.

It's a VERY short funeral.

And Lesbians rock.

But it's 13 minutes long! Imagine what a numb arse you'd have by the end of that.

I'd say 'Belfast' by Orbital.

I actually wouldn't care what was playing at my funeral as I would be too busy shagging the cenobite nymphettes in the 3rd layer of hell.

RIP Groove by Double 99 if only for the appropriate title and having a hearse with hydraulics bouncing to it.
