Grats threads are often very nice to read, I'm glad they're there.

What is slightly disappointing, though, is the relative lack of anything else in forums.

Standard logon to FH produces about 10 new gratz threads as well as 1-2 other threads in which people are nervously posting and wondering whether some vaguely disparaging comment about their neighbour's cat will get them banned or not.

How are they nice to read? The title of the thread is usualy some half-baked wit, with the oringial post saying just a simlpe "Grats xxxxx :D :D :D" and then a barrage of "Grats" / "Thanks" / "Nice guy, grats!" style replys, they are the bottom of the bottom in terms of forum material. There is NO reading in them, people often just reply to them to inflate their post count.

I voted rr10, but only because it would decrease the ammount of grats threads, idealy they would have their own forum or just not exist. I think one of the main reasons they haven't gotten their own forum is because the forum would be far emptier, and less replys, thus admiting they are a shite idea.

So currently 68.66% of users want the gratz minimum to be increased. If a political party got 68.66% in a PR system they would rule with absolute authority. Even in thorey in a FPTP system they would rule with a solid majority, but it might not happen like that.

Hear hear! For some players, casual players, people who spend most their online time in PvE (helping others, enjoying to explore the lands) dinging RR5 can be as much of an achievement then dinging RR10 for someone else.

For players who have already a RR8+ toon, dinging RR5 isnt that big of a deal (IMO). But for someone else it might be. If people are truely annoyed by grats-threads, perhaps it's not a bad idea to learn to read before clicking a thread :)

You hit the nail right on the head there.

This post is exactly right, statistics show the the majority want the minimum level raised. A poll asking a simple yes or no for the minimum level to be raised would be a good start, then if the majority once again vote ves the minimum should be raised then you make a poll asking which rank should the minimum be raised too.

326 wanting the minimum level to be rasied
149 happy with it at rr5

...or, the elitists could just choose not to read RR5 grats threads.

Nobody forced you to read a thread featuring someone being happy about something that is for them an achievement. Deliberately going in and posting "I don't think RR5 is anything much" is just showing your own obsession with e-peen, nothing more than that. It's spoiling someone else's party just because you don't like the colour of the candles on their cake. Fuck off somewhere else and don't go to their party, then.

Yet we are fucking forced to read the titles in an effort to find a decent thread? Maybe I don't like finding nothing but fucking gratz threads for some random bridge camper when I come to an RVR section. I want to read debates about RvR not Billy Bridgecamper Dinged rr5 after 10 weeks stuck to crauchon bridge..gratz well deserved!

I'm not sure if this is directed at me but since it was below my post ill assume so. I don't read gratz threads anymore, and i most certainly aren't elitist. Just taking one look at this forum is a prime example of why these polls on gratz threads arise and why 68% of the voters voted for the minimal limit to be raised. I presume not because they are elitist, but because they would rather see genuine topics of discussion instead of having to trawl through 3 pages of gratz threads to find one if they don't look here for a few days.

Even if you do read a gratz thread, all you get the majoriy of the time is

"gratz"
"well done"
"+1 post farming"
"nice guy"
"omg you zerger"
"you suck and so does your grandma"

I think personally a forum dedicated to gratz threads or a raise in the limit lik ethe majority voted would be a more suitable idea.

Can't be arsed with reading through the posts, imo, and it's been mentioned many times before, create a different forum for them.

F*cking hilarious you talking about decent threads given the crap you usually post.

Let's face it, the only reason people complain about grats threads isn't because the boards would otherwise be overflowing with intelligent debate, it's because their e-peens go limp when they see the "noobs" catching them up :drink:

Ok good, lets make the new limit rr7 because then the majority wins.
No more whines about grats rr7 or grats rr8 or 9 or 10 right?
because the majority says it!

That's pretty shit then, tbh. Haven't seen many jobs where overtime isn't payed. My overtime gets payed aswell and I gain a "tad" more than 5pounds/h.

Yet rr5 is the most popular answer and so would have the largest share of the popular vote the others would have to agree to form a coalition - good luck getting them to agree on where to raise the bar to :)
