um, a merc should be able to kill a bard, or at least, the bard shouldn't be able to kill a merc, mezz and run maybe, but not kill.

I wouldn't have said Mercs can beat anything.

I personnally have never lost a 1 on 1 situation.

But i have never faced a Spear Hero, or any serious caster.

I am not scared of Mez, because it breaks after the first hit.

Stun is a little different, that could be a problem.

I don't know much about the Mid or Hib tanks, so i can't really coment on the best Tank in the game.

But I do know that Pally's and Merc's are the only tank that can beat a Lesser Telemon 1 on 1 at level 44

That would have been Crush 50 Kobold warrior 50 Shield spec, she tends to solo red and orange things lots Bless her lil blue butt

24% Slash resist +15% from Chain bonus = 39% slash resist

vs my Crush on you, you cant get crush resist higher than 11% net (26-15) so resist wise I win

Also I am 1345hp atm so riding pretty high as far as hybrid hp goes, would love a duel sometime

Crush is +10% on plate so best case is 16% (though I think highlander/briton get 2% racial so it might be 18%).

Basically watch for uncle Trel, he stuns and bolts. He had a bolt go off yesterday for 1600 damage. I think he's been in the realm ability shop and upped his insane damage to unbelievable. The only problem we have is to stop him salivating all over us and spamming with ooh eet that booger for 1000 and him using caps cos everybody and his dog goes after him.



As for tanks, some real big bad ass guys out there. Probably Celt spearo the best, but couple of guys I like are Crush and Vajper, hard guys. Max is pretty hard, a mountain of hit points. Kephan is a pretty cool dude too. I parried 2 from him yesterday, guess mastery of parry works, one while fighting Maxie??

Respec will be handy as the pure spearo's will start to appear.

Not sure if Greg is pure spear, 50 spear, 42 shield and rest parry.

Warden does well vs u tanks, love them 2h and polemen in particular.

Well, bards use the same to-hit table as wardens... and therefore they should be able to do some decent damage. Wardens can take on mercs after all

The problem is: few bards spec blades/blunt higher than 6 and go for regrowth.

Yell "gimp" but I am playing around with the "battle bard" template. Ignoring Regrowth (hey, a druid half your level heals better...) completely and spec in blades/music/nurture.

In what sense? If you mean mez stacks with root stacks with stun, then that's as designed, there are 4 timers, root, mez, stun, snare, all separate, not one "CC" timer.

I considered a battle bard at one point, but decided it's just a minstrel without stealth and charm so gave up on it.

I know... but bards mez better than minstrels, have a half decent dd shout... and I bet properly specced and with some of the nicer RA's, a battle bard makes a pretty decent light tank.

I just didn't want to roll the "typical" bard... gosh it's so boring with everyone "perfectly" specced.

Heck, supposedly a bard can't solo yellows after 15 anymore. Well, that's what I do... because I have blades up to half my level. *shrugs*

I think part of it was just me wanting a hibernian minstrel and battle bard (or in fact any bard) isn't that. The DD is weak as hell if you're used to the dual DD goodness of minstrels (best DDs across the 3 music classes), the mez is better but only for AE. For single target minstrel mez is very very good.

You will find Skald DD's hit for more than minstrel DD's

I know skalds that hit for 300+ on even cons regularly.

Coren hits me for 125 with his shouts

That is because you have all three power relics Solid If we had one each and with resists being equal a minstrel should outdamage you with just shouts.

So in fact skalds have the worst DDs and minstrels the best. Also note that bard's 114 DD uses half as much power as skald/minstrel which gives them an advantage in long fights.

BTW Solid, any skald hitting for 300 with a DD is hitting a grey. Red skalds used to hit me for 270 at best with me having 0% body ressist (at the time).

Watch out for minstrels then, blade damage on minstrels is not funny if you're not the minstrel (having 15%+ slash resist plus the 15% chain bonus is far from uncommon).
