Well i was in college today having a chat with a tutor and he's a born again christian, i asked why did you become born again? Then he started waffling aload of crap, which was actually interesting.

Then we got onto evolution process, i asked what do you believe? Then he said he believes theirs a creator, instead of scientific facts. Personally i'm more of a scientific fact person, i believe in the evolution process. (not that i know much about it) then he came up with a good comment.

''How can such a miracle like a flower, or a human being be made from an explosion? What good becomes from an explosion? Destruction and mess''

I also said bacteria! Because i know fuck all it was the best answer i come up with?

So what do we all believe in, are their actual stone strong facts about the explosion and so on and shit like that? Or is it still a mystery? Fux knows, but its interesting stuff.

THERE WAS NEVER AND EXPLOSION!!!!!

There, now that I have got that out of my system, let me continue, the term "Big Bang" for the theory was made up by scientists at the start of the 20th century who didn't believe in it, and it was a term meant to make fun other the theory. It was never called that by Hubble himself (the guy who came up with the theory). The whole idea of it being an explosion is just a strawman, made up by people who don't like the theory. There is loads of evidence for the "Big Bang", just look at background radiation and the way the universe is expanding (although thats effected by other things like Dark Matter, and so called "Anti-Gravity", but the main reason is still the "Big Bang"). An interesting side note to this is the so called Oscillating Universe Theory, which says the the universe has forever been following a pattern of expansion, contraction, a "big Crunch" followed by another "Big Bang", but this is just speculation, to be fair.

As for evolution, watch videos like this and this, and if you are still in doubt, then there is no help for you =P

However, there is nothing in Evolution, or the "Big Bang", that goes against a belief in god, I mean personally I am a Neo-Pagan, but that doesn't mean I close my eyes to all the evidence that science has.

Woth regard to relegion i can't believe in anything that requires a leap of faith.

I don't believe in any god because of that.

I used to say i don't believe in anything i can't see but smart arse jw's used to say well you can't see electricity, but i can see the affects it has and i can feel it if i touch a live wire. However I aint seen a bearded man walk on water yet.

I got my own beliefs, based firmly in science

But none of you are interested in them, and I certainly am not going to waste half an hour typing them out. Far too busy.

I've got a Nobel Prize to claim.

well the theory is based on some observations and some mathematical models , believing is not a part of it.

whats the observations and models that support the theory that flowers and humans are miracles ? :)

As far as I'm aware, it was actually Edgar Allen Poe, the American author, who came up with the original idea of a big bang. It was THEN taken by scientists.

Athiest through and through, HOW CAN THERE BE A GOD WHEN POOR MADDY WAS TAKEN!

More seriously, just brought up that way. Do respect other people finding peace in god though as i sorta understand how it is comforting for people to believe in something bigger than themselves. Had a big argument the other night with a christian comdemning other religions, blabbering on about there being one god n all that shit, that pisses me off.

Relegion is belife? Science is facts?

People are individuals so will always have opinion. and imo this discussion is pointless because due to individuality no ones opinion will be the same.

Haggus hits the nail on the head. Well done, sir.

A pointless discussion God v Science. Interesting, sure, but quite futile.

Neither side is going to convince the other to change beliefs, and even within each side, there are similarly opposing views. None of the religions can get along with each other.

Science is limited in its scope and application. Science cannot yet tell us what happens at the singularity of a black hole, or what CAUSED the Big Bang to occur.

Neither side can prove or disprove the existence of God, and never will. The religious nuts will tell you that even thinking about God not existing is heresy. Well, so be it.

And then there are scientists who are deeply religious, and very religious people who are scientific experts....

He's an enigma. I wonder if he knows whats going on inside his own head. From our point of view, he's an odd-ball.

Evolution ?

FACT :

There are millions upon millions of fossils, detailing the earths history going back 100s millions of years, as we all know. 300 million years ago, the Earth ONLY had non flowering plants on it, the flower did not exist. countless fossil records exist from every corner of the globe showing these fern like fossils.

Ok we all agree we have fossilised plants from this time, we have zee technology to determine this rather accurately. 100 million years ago, flowering plants appeared on the planet., and indeed we have multiple and clear examples of said flowering plants in our fossil records.

To this day, not a single fossil exists, or has ever been found that shows the gradual transition from non flowering to flowering plant. This is not evolution, this is genetic manipulation, gene splicing just like we can do today...

Think about it, one day 150 million years ago, a plant grew a flower, yipee ! the worlds first flowering plant ! Doh, as this is the worlds first, their is no other flowering plant for the pollen to pollinate. Darwins famous quote " survival of the fittest" does not fit here. A plant - using a huge amount of its resources to make this usless flower - is going to die off, S.O.T.F - if you believe Darwin..

What we have here is Panspermia, or just your average meddeling intergalactic race on a quick stop over having a mess about.

are you actually being serious?

so the culmination of all the planets "whatever flowers evolved from" , only led to the evolution of one?

hate these fucking religion discussions, but that statement was lol worthy.

its all theory baby. there's no way to prove god does not exsist, and there's no way to prove that the universe was blown to smithereens before it was created. both are imo beliefs but i like the "science" theory better
