I'm going to try and build a greenhouse this weekend. That's about as far ahead as I've thought tbh.

Not to be rude pcg, but I find it amazing that someone of your sporting ability (by which I mean I'm assuming you're fairly good at sports looking at the amount of things you want to do that involve running!) doesn't yet know how to swim! Can you not swim at all? or do you mean learn how to swim competitvely?

nah i suck at sports really
done a few half marathons but swimming has kind of passed me by. it seems to me like one of those things that most middle class parents and/or schools teach.
i went to a shite school in the centre of london and my folks were not really so interested in me learning how to swim.

to be honest i dont think any of these are non-doable for the general public (most people in the country) given enough effort? although i admit things like everest will take a lot of £££ and organisation.

its just all about dedication!

(for example a triathlon seems mighty hard at first glance, but its a lot more managable if you think about a sprint triathlon. my goal is an 'olympic tri' though).

anyway these are all goals. HOPEFULLY i will do all of these but id be glad to do the main handful, really!! (all except the 'specialist' ones - everest, channel, marathon des sables?).

No such thing exists.

I have fulfilled my biological potential, which itself is pointless, but that's programming for you.

lies, I'm 34 and feel pretty good. I am aware that there is a somewhat longer recovery time for certain antics though ;)

Don't be silly. I am 52 and still as nasty and ambitious as ever I was. Probably more so as I realize time is running out. Makes you try harder. If you are involved in sport such as running there is fierce competition at all age groups. Hell there are men still doing the full triathlon in their 70s.

By the way I am 52 and looking to run 32-33 mins for a 10k. How many of you can reach that whatever age you are? Your body doesn't age so rapidly as people think if you keep exercising hard.

Harsh. :(

Anyway. Swim the channel would be a good one but how about achieve world peace, uniting humankind in a cooperative entanglement where we all move forward together and populate teh starz?

Looks like the extent of my goals in life are to get a haircut this afternoon and watch Liverpool beat Chelski tonight.

I'll work on getting some goals eh? :)

Bollocks -I hope ;) or.... oh shit I had better have the whole week off after the moonwalk then.

Or maybe I should just stop training and do a sponsored 'easter egg eating' competition instead... hmmmmm...:p

The perfect competitive pastime for the over 35s?

Hey, I tell you one event that is wide open is the UK Eating Championship. Watched a programme the other day and our UK champ only managed 10 usa hotdogs! Hell the winner ate 49! Must be plenty of fat over 35 yrs freddy guys on here that could beat that? So there you are even if you think your competitive days are over they might not be. Train to become an eating champ. All the years of sloth and over indulgence might be exactly what is required. The first uk competition was eating pork pies. Think the guy managed 18 or so in 4-5 mins or something. Go get sum and start practising now ;). Reminds me I gotta practise me geetar. Don't put weight on with that which is a good thing as far as I am concerned.

Bollocks. I've done more interesting stuff between 37 and 42 than most people manage in a lifetime.
