Sorry to hear about all the problems that u had with the server :(

Hope GOA can get them sorted out and IMHO u should be given the relic will make for a few interesting days to come and will stop people from leaving. I know of a few who have left already.

I was not there to defend during the raid, and only got fragmented news from people now and then, but I've got to make a few notes here.

Firstly, Teaspoons post was DEFINITELY after the second crash, not the first. I know this because I made a post after the second crash in the general forums, and the time there is marked as some 15-20 minutes before Teaspoons post. I logged in directly after that, and started getting fragmented news of an upcoming possible Alb raid within minutes. I don't know where those rumours originated from, but it might have been his post, not sure, since it is only a close call of a few minutes. If I've got the times somewhat clear to me, I don't think that his post could have done anything to get the relic keep raid thwarted though, since travelling there takes some time. As mentioned before, a large army went to the amg, don't know what would have happened there had you been successful bringing it out of the keep.

Second, someone mentioned that Mid's would not take a relic against orders. Well, I can tell you some rumours I heard during our relic raid to get the scabbard (I think it was) in the first place. I was present during the raid, and heard quite early on that noone was to enter the relic keep but the organizers of the raid, and that they were the ones to pick up the relic. However we soon also heard after it was taken that it was Sinister (yes, the infamous) who had it. Afaik he wasn't the one who was to pick it up, but only did it to boost his own, back then already large enough ego. He later turned it over to the one who was meant to carry it. What I might have misunderstood in this story is that Sinister actually was one of the organizers of this raid, and actually did have the right to take it, but i doubt it.

Third, ok, you've found the guy that took the relic. Give him a reprimand or something and leave it at that. Don't be too hard on him. He says he is sorry, just don't punish him so that he starts hating the game because of you guys.

Fourth, if Goa decides to hand the relic over to you, you will not hear me whine about it anyway. Great organizing and a big salut to you all. If you get it you deserve it. :)

Just fyi,

We didn't get any extra time to mobilize because of the server crashes, we only twigged you were attacking our keep when you were already almost through the 2nd door and scrambled forces to meet you.

We knew some albs were around in uppland but someone failed to mention the other ones they saw and it never came to my attention until we heard a few more tidbits and by the time someone got out there to check it was a little on the late side

but credit to the albs, was a great try and aside from the obvious awful lag a good fight

Dear Qwegji

I believe I talk on behalf of the who Midgard army when I say Good Job Mate!
Midgard needs more supporters like you and even if we dont want you to actually move in to Midgard we will still strongly support you in the coming Albion relic raids.

As a reward I promise not to kill you if we meet on the frontiers.

Just a thought, as to a way it could have gone down. Assume he hadnt picked up the relic but you guys did, you get through to the alb mg, where you find a huge force defending.
Chances are mids are going to win, they have the higher lvl advantage and seem to be fairly ok at tactics(no offense intended).
Now suppose Qweji does what a few scouts i know would, and sits on that relic keep floor. The second you wipe out he picks it up again. Suddenly he becomes the hero instead of an idiot.

Whats my point, theres a fine line between stupidity and foresight.
And this is a game, ok so he disobeyed orders. Crap happens, im sure youll be stronger for the battle you went through.
However Isolating a couple of people who may or may not have made the difference can only stand to weaken you and draw more divisions amongst you.

I may be wrong though.

Well done, people of Arthur

Pity i thought that things are rather boring in Prydwen and was comfortably in sleep at time u shed blood and tears.
I was mistaken as i'm sure many other mids were. Next time u will not place a foot in Midgardian soil without our knowing :)

Again, congratz

Qwegji was simply wrong there. He knows he was and apologized for it. Don't think he'll do it again.

But some people are actually promoting his act by saying he's a hero? And that we shouldn't whine about us not getting our grubby fingers on it?

Getting the relic back to our own keep is a part of the total raid that's just as important as beating down the doors and guards. So that's the part that requires a lot of organisation and communication. That's why we pointed out the person getting the relic before and everyone knew who it was after the severe spamming in /s, alliance chat and /y. :)

It's not the fact that he died with the relic that annoys us, but the fact that people actually rush up the tower to get the relic before the assigned person did. And if he did panic and pick up the relic he could have at least told someone.

But this has all been said already, and Qwegji gave his apologies. I accept these, but I don't want to see it happen ever again. So don't promote this, we failed, we move on, and next time we'll do better.

Well, I fell through the floor up at the relic and survived, the shitty part is that i saw the scabbard right next to me. I sat down to heal a bit, but then I saw albions on the yard where falling fast so I ran out of the wall to help. And I never realised that the relic was there inside the wall next to me, I thought it was some bugged view or something, could have grabbed it and speed songed/sprinted out with it.
But as i said I thought it was some bugg and it wasn't really there, and I had Nilo's words echoing in my ear too, DON'T TOUCH THE RELIC :p

guys,

us hibbies took an army of about 40 people to your AMG while the relic was neutral, we were going to try to take out some middies for you but guess what....

ALL OF MUDGUARD were there..... I kid you not, there was over 200 people easy... we were wiped in seconds, as I suspect you would have been.. you're only option would have been to wait it out somewhere quiet, but the middies had groups patrolling, and sentries on the roads etc, so it would have been diffecult.

Still Albions I salute you!

Actually, at the time the relic was 'taken' , there were only about 20 Mids at amg in Odins. An alb force coming from pk effectively wiped these out and the route was clear.

It was about 10-20 mins before the large numbers of Mids arrived so it was possible to have returned the relic successfully thru amg.

Now saying that, we've had an apology from Qwegji and yes, it did suck what he did but lets move on and learn from this.

/salute all who helped make a great night rvr

No Pyro, you are wrong m8...I was one of the "20" midswho arrived first at amg, but not only didn't you wipe us all out, by then the relic wasn't taken yet (still owned by Midgard according to /realm). And only minutes afterwards, there were at least 150 mids at the amg (not counting the ones that were anon), and most of them arrived when you guys were stilll bashing the 2nd door. I don't think reporting it to GOA would make any difference, since you never made it to your pk in odin's. If you would have ever made it is and will remain a mystery... (but you wouldn't, trust me). We Mids suffered from some bugs as well. Me and Froler ran quickly to Bledmeer for example to get some siege weapon parts, but aparently the merchant had disappeared. However, it was a good attempt and I had great fun, I hope this was the beginning of more great battles!

I agree that the issue isn't worth reporting to rightnow. Things were still very much in the balance.

Tell you what though, i'm pissed off that goa brought servers down which has effectively repaired your relic gates back to 100%. No cost to Mids, no effort required :(

Thats annoying as hell
3 Relic doors normaly cost around 33plat to repair- a failed raid also does Attrision damage to the realm (you offering to pay for this damage then :) )

It's nice to see that you are finally starting to resist. RvsR has been quite boring on Prydwen, but let this be the move that enlighten you that we are not instoppable.

I remember the night Midgaard went for our first relic raid. Not really the first, but the first after the patch. We were all good to go and the server told everyone to log off - the day of the infamous DoS attack. We got ourselves together and took the relic shortly after.

You did a good raid and if it wasn't for two zone crashes you would have been succesful. Your fine scout or whatever it was that took the relic did not screw up your raid, we would have stopped you at AMG. Nope - the zone crashed that delayed your attack is what you have to blame. KEEP THE FAITH ;)

I think people missed the point of my post.

Irrelevant of who did and didnt follow orders or who let the "cat out the bag" the relic was irretrivable. If SoTL had got the relic and the same thing had happened to them - it would still have been irritrievable.

I know its nice to "get it all off your chest" and have a go at people who made mistakes - and hopefully the bollockings will act as a deterrant against hasty action next time, but the fact remains that due to bugs, the Relic was placed out of play.

Therefore we do have ground for an appeal. Can we stop infighting please and maybe follow up this couse of enquiry as its the only one that might lead to the Relic been returned to us.

We may have a ground for a appeal, but i rather get it as a realm ourselfs instead of GOA giving it us..

A very good attempt failed due to a bunch of factors. With another attempt we could trully get it by our strenght and see if we learned anything from the the one we did yesterday.

I agree with DeSlisser, and I also agree that there was absolutely no chance to get through the milegate. I was there, and so was all Midgard :(. No way to get thru that mass of purple vikings.

I am so unhappy at what has been posted here concerning the doors being repaired for free. IT IS NOT TRUE.

If your spies had been watching mid alliance chat, they would have seen that all through the night there were calls for cash and wood to mend the door. I finally gave in at 3.30 in the morning and gave them all my savings of 1.5p so they could secure the door. I only hope they managed to get other donations. I was so upset at having lost all my money that I logged.

While not nearly as rich as Malenka I gave about 3/4 of what cash I had also. Money was already being collected at the AMG when te relic was still listed at Neutral heh.

> I gave about 3/4 of what cash I had also

Well, Im down to 50g again as well. Cashfarming, here I come again ;(

What we need is alliance-wide policy of organizing at least be-weekly cashfarming raids. I move that such a project be discussed next alliance meeting.

As to possibilities of albs getting through with the relic had they been able to get away with it from Mjollnir Faste.. In all honesty, I have to say there _was_ a chance of that happening.

We had rather small stopper force at AMG when albs were still bashing at them doors. Call to arms went out and EoO in full complement was inc to sit on them gates. Before reinforcements arrived, however, the stopper force was attacked from APK side and wiped out. Released and headed bact to AMG at full speed. Now, sometime during that happening, the relic went neutral. Is roughly the same distance from Mjollnir Faste to AMG as it is from Vindsaul. When we got to AMG, the battle was already raging. Alb forces got wiped, but the battle was chaotic. IF during that battle, a minstrell got very very very lucky and managed to run through the active battlefield unkilled, managed to get through the gates, managed to outrun hot pursuit and actually land with the relic in PK, we would have lost it. Remember - no stealth while carryin a relic.

There was a chance of that happening. I’d give it much less than 50% tho.

The large 130+ mid force arrived a bit later. But much smaller force gave battle at AMG just about the time a really fast relic carrier would be running through it.

All in all, it was a well planned raid. How the hell did ya guys manage to smuggle in sufficient force without us detecting it? Dammit, if ever they are going to implement guild housing, I vote EoO build ours at that cursed AMG in Odins. Then we would just have to recruit some nice norsewoman maids to carry hot drinks to people doing guard duty.

Yeah alot of us gave alot of cash , and sat watch until we feel down the chairs from lack of sleep, but that is ok if you didnt get the relic's it was worth it. and finaly a salut to all those who stayed there all nite and some of the morning , you know who you are

I am actually in a rather good mood today, nothing to do with DAoC or any failed relic raids, so wanan congrats to SOtL esp Pyro for a well organised raid.

If the afore mentioned bad luck had not snsued I am positive we would be 1 Str relic short today.

GOA Crashes and Quglgimp cost u the relic.

It was a very well led raid that I actually arrived pretty damn late to.

Hats off to Nilo (see other thread) who organised this literally in the few hours prior to the attack being launched.

I hope this is the start of more fun on Prydwen.

The relic went neutral as we had just wiped the initial amg Mid group. I distinctly remember talking to the other people there about how the relic was lost. So yep, there was a chance that bard group could have got it back and thru. Anyhow, its all history now, here's looking forwards! ;)

With regards to the doors. I know that Melgar was posting ss on irc of him replacing the relic after motom moved it late on this morning (about 9am gmt). I assume that at least the inner door must have been down at this point as Motom would have been unable to get to the relic (or am i wrong on this?). Also, the I believe hibs had been attacking overnight too. Not sure if they damaged doors etc etc. Still, same applies, server went down so doors all definitely 100% now, lucky mids :) Go ask for a refund :p

Pyrotechnix

Firstly, I don't want GOA to give us the relic...we failed, plain and simple.
Yes, someone else picked up the relic when he shoulda left it the hell alone, and we might have gotten it past the milegate if Gideon had taken it.
And I know that Teaspoons post woulda had nothing to do with Midgard showing up, as I was expecting them to turn up while we were on the second door, and the zone crash probably slowed them down if anything.
And isn't the zone crashing thing down the the gfx enngine, and not GOA's servers??

O

old.Chavez

Guest
No the server crash is a result of cramming 200+ people (friend or foe) into 1 zone.
