last night i was watching tv and fell asleep as usual. i think around 30 minutes later i woke up again.

at first i thought the bed was shaking really violently. after about a minute or so of not being able to move i could move my arm. when i did this i realised it was me shaking. i was shaking so much that it made all the bed shake too. this went on for around 5 minutes, for 3 minutes of it i was totally awake and able to move but this shaking would not stop. i finally went to sleep again and woke up, again, shaking like last time. after falling asleep again it didnt happen anymore.

has anyone else experienced this before? at the time the shaking felt as bad as how it looked in the exorcist!

When I am drifting off to sleep I feel shaking. I feel either the bed shaking or I am but as I am going to sleep I kinda ignore it.

Its weird but it kind of makes me feel nice.

I may be dying.

did you forget your customary half pint of whiskey before bed? sounds like an addict trying to wake up b4 his first hit to me ;)

on a side note - iv had that once or twice over the years, my mother too apparently its nothign too serious its just you were woken up in the middle of a dream and sleep paralysis which is active during REM dreams (i think) was still active.

Nope, I got it in my favourites :) I guess you should seek professional advice tho, if you haven't already, it may be controllable.

woah crazy but interesting read, I had no idea that could even happen! Can the hallucinations be controlled with medication and such? Sorry to pry, just kinda curious!

What I used to do and still do to some extent is this -

I am asleep, I have a dream or something. I then panic, sometimes I am fighting my way out of bed which means I am punching Samm and grabbing her. Other times it gets more sinister. When we went on hols to Scotland we were in bed, we hadn't been asleep long. Anyways, I got on top of her and started strangling her, I could see her face and hear her screams but I couldn't stop, it finally kind of sunk in and I stopped myself.

It truly felt like I was possessed. It has happened since, not so often but I did do something milder than that last week. Of course I then have to keep myself awake all night for fear of doing it again.

I have been the doctors about this and they put me on beta blockers that did fuck all.

Its enough to make me sleep in a seperate bed.

I'm 6 foot 4 and Samm is 5 foot 5. She is petite and I am quite big built. I am so worried I will one day do some serious damage to her.

Just read your blog tris. It gave me goose bumps.

The mans face you saw.....that made me dizzy.

When I was younger I used to see things.

Once I saw a severed head on my snooker table and another time a boy standing by my bed. Oh god it shits me up still.

I need help it seems.

By the way the doctor laughed when I told him what I had done to Samm, he said "I wonder if that will stand up in court if you kill her".

Hes a fucking moron.

I believe it can be partly controlled with anti depressant kind of drugs, but I guess it all depends on your state of mind aswell, since you can't fixed what aint broke, so to speak.

well ive seen more than that, but its also so long ago i didnt bother putting in. ive seen people walking around, i 'seen' someone come into my room before and shit my self, i even 'heard' them come in. i grabbed one my swords and ran all over the house looking for them. in the end i went back to sleep and woke up with the sword in my bed.
ive seen objects floating around like i was in some kind of lsd induced fantasy land. for example i seen a bag of crisps floating around and my fish tank was floating and some other things such as cups. i could feel some kind of presence but i couldnt see it, in the end i turned my light on and it all went.

You sure you house isn't possessed or something? Honestly, this sounds like a really hard thing to live with..how does it affect your day to day life? without a clearer, nicer way of putting it...are you a nutter? :)
And how comes you don't want to try drugs that could improve the situation? If you don't mind my asking that is.

it doesnt effect my life at all. it doesnt happen all the time, the other night was the first time since april that anything happend. no im not a nutter. things only happen at the transition from being asleep to waking up. some people with narcolepsy have cataplexy and falling alseep uncontrolable - i dont have that but if i did then its obvious it would have some kind of impact on life.
why dont i wanna take pills? well this thing is not damaging to me, its not lethal and afterwards, when you think back its a very interesting experience. its not everyday you see stuff floating about or your paralysed and then be able to move again. once you can control its quite fun.
im not schizo or anything like that ;)

That's some weird stuff, but i actually find those kinds of experiences really interesting. Certainly better than the day to day numbness that most people's dreary lives make them experience.

About the only slightly odd thing that happened to me was when i was trying to get to sleep the night before one of my a-level exams. I was lying in my bed in the darkness, worrying that if i didn't get to sleep soon i'd be tired the next day and write a shite exam. I must've been lying in the darkness for ages, and then my door slowly opens. This produced a paralysing fear in me, like my heart was in a clamp, and i just waited to see what had opened my door completely unable to do anything. Then this big cat-type-thing walks into my room, and makes this weird, silent strangling noise at me.
I then realised that it was me making the noise and i was struggling against sleep paralysis to force myself to wake up. So obviously turned out it was all a dream. The eerie thing was that my door was open at the same angle that it was in my dream (when i always close it) and my room was exactly the same as it was in my dream. In fact the experience of my dream was exactly the same as when i awoke (when normally you can tell the difference).

Annoiyingly i couldn't get back to sleep after that.

Its quite scary....especially the strangling of my girl thing.

The bed shaking thing leaves me with a warm feeling, quite relaxed and sometimes I can't sleep without it.

I thought you were gonna say FM walked in with a massive erection Ob.

oblong, if everything looked EXACTLY the same, you wont of been asleep. you would of imagined you were and you came out of a certain phase of sleep thinking youd awoken.
i used to think i was asleep when i hallucinated. today i got uncontrollably tired all of a sudden, so i have a feeling there will be a lot going on in days to come.

since i was around 11, if i think back i can remember the bed used to shake a lot when i was trying to get to sleep, but i put that down to over active imagination.
i cant remember all my hallucinations now. probably the most interesting are on my blog, also when i posted previously that i seen stuff floating around was pretty crazy.
ive heard something speak my name in my too ;) i was trying hard to imagine i could hear things and i was trying for ages to hear my name be whisperd and then i heard a ladies voice say my name in my ear. this was when i was just about to fall asleep.
ive had nightmares where the pain follows through into waking up, but i dont know if that is normal or not. i was having a nightmare that someone was chopping my head right down the middle and i woke up with extreme headache and i could hear the sound of breaking bones.
but i cant remember much detail before whats in my blog.

Hmm, that's possible, i guess, but i just figured everything looked the same because i'd been lying in the darkness with my eyes open for hours so my subconscious sort of remembered all the details of my room at the time. This was several years ago now and i've not had anything like it since so i'm thinking it probably wasn't hallucinations or anything like that.

How's your sleep been lately?

You really really need to stop watching scary films!
I also think you should write a book about these things/nightmares cos they are really really interesting. I feel a bit bad getting some kind of entertainment from your suffering and for this I apologise, but still, they really are very interesting!
