Erk. In fairness, we've all been there. Brings back memories of the first few sites I made in Frontpage Express. It is rather irking that he's offering to charge money for it but then, no one in their right mind will pay for his services and he'll learn to make better sites.

... and his homepage has a portfolio on it, which is more than can be said of mine right now. 0-1.

EDIT~ I hope he paid for his copy of Dreamweaver though... ;) (EDIT2~ Actually, not sure if those Template comments are DW or Frontpage not, t'as been a while, either way, I hope he paid for it).

My favourite bit of his site is the bit were he says "I have been using the Internet for 5+ years", as if that's something of an achievement.

/me attempts to expand the thread beyond slagging off a newbie website.

So how much do web developers charge then? Is it hourly? By the page?

Lets have an example, take my site - http://www.studentssocial.co.uk - if we were to pretend that I had written the entire PHP backend myself (in actually fact I just patched up PHP-Nuke), how much should I have payed myself?

I've often toyed with doing freelance Web Dev to pay for beer... I mean books.

"and creating websites for a couple of years."
Really?? Also, probably not a good idea to leave his mobile number on there.

Every billy joe in his bedroom can set up a 'web design' company, much like hosting. Its all too easy, the web is saturated by them. Best bet is to build a few sites for cheap, or free (payment by alchohol?) just to get a portfolio of sorts together. Then advertise your services on something like Freelance.com and get yourself listed in a few web directories.

Unless your really serious about it your never gonna make a fortune, but its nice to get a few extra quid on the side every once in a while.

http://www.bpoceanracingteam.com is a site i'm doing atm for a crate of wine .. but then i'm just a cheap whore really ;)

I like this bit on the 'Services' page:

"I can help design, and create a website to get your prescence across to your customers."

Can't design and can't spell

I feel sorry for the guy. Maybe we should mail him with some links to web design and stuff. Give him some tips, I'm sure he'd appreciate it :)
