they get a working english version, but nooooo lets put the english servers on hold for 3-4 months till we have it translated to french, german, mongolian and nether-timbuktuan.

First, give GOA a break. I happen to think they do a good job. They get ZERO support from Mythic. I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of work they put in when they get a new patch is similar to how much Mythic put in to make it.
Secondly, about us having to "wait" so the German and French servers can be patched at the same time... If the English servers were patched faster (say 6 weeks faster) a load of French and German players would move over to the English servers. Their English is good enough. Even now (fk knows why) there's a lot of French players on Prydwen.
Thirdly, the Italian version? Whoodoo... GOA bought the rights to release the German, French and English (EU) servers. If they'd bought the rights to the Italian server then I'm sure that they'd be doing the Italian server instead of another company. Wasn't this problem with rights why there was such difficulty getting the game in scandinavia early on?

as ive said before i personally think goa do a good job, you say you wait ages for a patch thats crap, goa anounced it was patching direct to 1.52 1 week later it was live on goore 2 weeks later (maybe 3) it was live on servers, whats the problem with that ok so some patches early on took a while such as 1.45 and 1.42 but serious last few patches have been quick and no big errors or server rollbacks like what used to happen. i expect we will see 1.54 by mid december maybe a little later due to pvp. I personally dont see aproblem with that GOA brought rights to three languages therefore it delivers to 3 and treats them equal (ok so the other 2 have more servers but pvp is english and they have a much larger player base) i know for one if goa released patches on french servers as there the largest playerbase then you would start balling, so why should we get it before them ?

Still dont see a problem if they patched the english servers earlier. What if a few french/dutch moved over? we are not crowded as it is. Its difficult enough to get a relic raid going.

One of the best things about DAoC is the mix of different nationalities playing on the same servers. If what you say is correct then why isn't everyone playing on US servers? Why isn't there some rule restricting server access according to nationality? I'll tell you why, because it's all about freedom of choice and horses for courses. Some non-brits like english servers to practice english, and some may also share your apparanent dislike of mixed nationality server play and would never move. It's one of those things that would just sort itself out.
My vote is for GAO to patch English servers as soon as they can, no waiting for German & French language conversions

we are customers, we pay them money. when things don't go right we get pissed off, and we have a right to demand the level of service we expect. GOA has done a lot of things wrong since the start, mainly very slow patching, missed patch deadlines, missed news deadlines, server downtime etcetc.... it's frustrating seeing the american servers paying the same amount but getting much better servers, news coverage and fast patches.

Pfft...most europeans speak english better than the english. I'd like to see the majority of the english trying to play on the german or french servers.
Having worked for an online game company I know that patches are notorious for being waaaay over their release date so my advice to you all is don't hold your breath; you will just go blue in the face and fall over a lot.

well a while ago i played on Merlin on a 50 runemaster for a month on and off. 1.51 went through in that time there was absolutely no probs at all, the connection stayed on green and was no server uptime.

it is bullshit havin to wait just to keep the germans and french happy
goa where just been greedy to take the germans and french along, now we have to wait ALOT longer than any other daoc provider for our patches. you think we have to wait along time now for patches well what happens when shrouded isles arrives and we arent talkin 20-40 meg to translate, will we have to wait for them to translate too ?
and when do goa ever respond to these sorts of threads ?they dont, i find it hard to believe that an employee of goa doesnt peruse these boards from time to time to gage the mood of its server populations.
so a question to goa which im sure i wont get an answer to, are you going to make us wait even longer for shrouded isles just to keep the germans and french happy or are you gonna finally just say screw this why make the english servers wait for this when we have got to do minimal coding to patch it lets give them the patch and concentrate on translating the patch for the others while they get on with it.
i really dont see why they make us wait it does in no way affect the german or french servers as they would have to wait anyway for the patch it simply pisses me off that ive gotta be dragged along for the ride im sure many more agree with me on this.

what i love is theyre testing the pvp server atm its in english no need to translate but it takes them over a month to set up the exact same thing as mythic are running and have been for months T_T i mean wtf is there to test? its up and running in us dont fook with it and there wont be problems........

Did you actually ever take a look at the server stats, Chipper? Do it occasionally. Maybe you´ll get an idea of who´s taking whom "along".
I agree, waiting for a patch because of translations sucks. Still, we´re living with that since day 1 of release now and by now and I really can´t see a point in complaining over and over and over again about this. Either live with it, or move to US servers.
Working in the game industry myself, I know how hard and time consuming betatesting/localizing a game can be. Give them a little time to do their job properly and stop acting, as if this game was "your´s" because you happen to speak the same language as the US. GoA is french, live with it.

I was just referring to the tone of your posting Chipper, which sounded a bit as if you´re thinking that the UK Servers are the main community of DAOC Europe, which just isn´t the case. GOA certainly has a reason for their patch release policy and I`m sure, the reason is NOT keeping the germans and french people "happy" as you put it.

Currently I dont think Goa aren't doing to bad. Look At the states:-
It took 16 weeks for the states servers to go from 150 - 152. Goa bundled the 2 and did it in 10 weeks,. They wont of got hold of the 1.52 patch until 6 weeks after they got hold of the 1.50 that means they managed to do those conversions in around 4 weeks.
At the moment they seem to take 2/3 of the development time of a patch to do the translations and testing.
On a pure theory basis the US servers went 152 - 154 in around 8 weeks. If the above holds true you will see us being patched to 1.54 in late December. Mind u with the festive hangovers better push it back to 1st week in Jan.
I agree it would be NICE to go to 1.53 first. But that is only because we in europe know what is the content of the patches. If we didnt know would people bother so much?
As for patching the English servers first... what a waste of time that would be. Customer services would be full of plebs saying
" I patched my german account with the UK Client just to see what it is like..... Its stopped working.... I am getting client mismatch error messages"( but maybe in German.... Or French)
You have to either only run english servers or patch all languages at the same time.
