I tried to comprehend such a thing, but my brain melted and fell out through the cracks in my teeth.

Basically they made a liquid that needs a lot of energy to heat up, prefers to stay with its own molecules rather than get absorbed and doesnt conduct electricity well. Or atleast thats what I think it does with my limited chemical knowledge(if it trully works).

If the site can be trusted than there was a substance that could do the same (or atleast not make things wet), but it wasnt enviromental friendly.

I assume this will be similar

and the use for this liquid?

or are they planning on altering the properties of normal water to make it behave like this stuff?

allthough if they did all the worlds brolly factories would have to close down

well the first thing that sprang to mind was fire fighting. then I read the webpage, d'OH :) that, and cooling senisitive stuff. I wonder how well it does in the conveyance of heat? you could submerge a computer and generate a current in the water to aid convection.

I think this stuff boils at 50c so cooling things wouldnt be very effective

Imagine the o/c potential with a mobo submersed in this. I'm no sciientist but it must surely be able to out perform non conductive oils?

it would probably be nice for fire fighters though, atleast if it has a higher amount of energy needed to get it boiling(which leads to fire having less energy and extinguishing). It would be nice as you would have no water damage to the building, but the problem is that getting water to any location is easy, but I wouldnt know if that goes for this liquid.
Also if oil reacts the same way to this stuff as it does with water than it wouldnt be good for those hand held fire extinguishers in homes as you cant extinguish an oil fire with water iirc?

Right, so this water that doesn't get stuff wet... Where exactly would it go after it was sprayed out of a sprinkler system in a building? Would they let it evaporate of it's own accord or suck it all back up with a big hoover, or...?

Think the idea of the low boiling point is that it would evaporate quickly.
